We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Linsey Urrea. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Linsey below.
Linsey, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I always had a love for music and singing. In elementary and high school I sang in every music program that was offered. However, when I was 19 I heard people singing my lyrics in a crowd for the first time and was hooked by the feeling. Around that time was when i started to take music seriously.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello! My name is Linsey and I am an artist/songwriter from Southern California. I got my start writing for my brother’s garage band when I was in high school. I’d help them with their lyrics and melodies and then watch them play on the weekends. I was obsessed with seeing how the crowds reacted to the songs we wrote. After high school, I attended Belmont University with the intention of becoming a music manager (18 year old me wasn’t ready to admit that she wanted to be an artist). However, my sophomore year I was asked to join this new band on campus called Goodie Bag as the lead singer. Our first single, “Strawberry Shortcake” was placed on several Spotify editorial playlists and just surpassed 4 million streams. We started out playing basement shows and within a few years went on to play all over Nashville, Chicago, and California. I sang in Goodie Bag for 3 years, and in 2021 I decided to go solo. Since leaving the band I’ve moved back to California, released 5 singles independently with the help of my manager Brianna Bornstein, and have landed songwriting cuts for artists including Jules Paymer, Sara King, and Your Favorite Color. in May of 2023 I released my first music video for my single, “Still In Love With U”. The video debuts my all girl band in the same garage where I got my start writing songs with my brother. I’m super stoked for my 2023 releases. My sound is always evolving, but this wave of music best represents me more than anything I’ve put out before. My producer, Tony Chetta has helped me tap back into my band roots and create a sound that feels nostalgic yet fresh at the same time. Conceptually, I made these songs during a time in my life where everything was falling apart around me, but nothing inspires more than a broken heart. I made this music for people who believe that nothing is black and white but always gray, for people who have a hard time with boundaries, and for people who can’t hold a grudge no matter how hard they try. If this resonates with you, you’re not alone! I have songs for you :). For anyone who is just now discovering me through this article, thank you so much for reading and let’s be friends! Feel free to message me on social media and/or Check out LINSEY on all streaming platforms!

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Rock your favorite artist’s merch. Sing loud at concerts. roll down the windows and blare your favorite song. tell all your friends about that killer artist you found that no one knows about and go to shows. :)

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is creating things that people vibe and resonate with. There is no greater feeling in the world than when you’re on stage and people are singing their heart out to your lyrics. I’ve been chasing that feeling since I was 16 and don’t plan on stopping any time soon.
