Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lingo Blue. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lingo, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I grew up in a relevant small town in Georgia where opportunities to pursue my dreams as a artist were slim to none. I started out as a writer and hype man for a group of friends that would later turn into a group by the name of YGB(young gifted and black). We use to ride around kickin freestyles over instrumentals created by another member of the group at the time and I would always jump in just for fun. A couple of guys in the group felt like I should give rapping a try but at the time I was just enjoying my position as it was. I decided to step our and try it just see how it would feel and honestly speaking it was one of the best moves I have ever made which led to me being fresh out of the military with this new found passion finding myself moving to Atlanta ga where the opportunities were multiplied to pursue my dreams with a total of $45 after paying for a uhaul and gas to make it. I think this was one of the biggest and best risks I’ve ever taken. Started out sleeping in studios and floors of friends apartments bought a car later down the road and ended up sleeping in the back seat of a Ford focus for a little over 5 months.

Lingo, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
From an early age, I set out to become a writer and later on a professional Hip Hop Artist. Natural ability will only take a talented artist so far, but a strong will and determination has helped push me forward and continues to drive my development and success. Born and raised in Georgia, Lingo Blue is the language of pain and success. I speak of life as I know it growing up in a small town and moving to a bigger city to pursue my dream as a writer/artist. I feel like my ambitious attitude never allowed me to quit. Overcoming many obstacles in life my music has been called a voice for the culture given from my walk of life, and an inspiration to everyone alike.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me the most rewarding part as a artist is to actually see and hear how the work and time i put into my music affects the listeners and to be able to display it through live performances I feel like creates an unexplainable connection between me as the artist and the listener.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I started out in a group working with other management groups and independent labels before I went solo. I had to reinvent myself and change my artist name to move away from a bad situation I was in at the time which later led to me becoming a solo artist starting over from scratch. I was receiving bad promotions and being “Black balled” by some of the individuals on my team and treated as an expendable product.
