We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lindsie Nichole Nobles a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsie Nichole, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
That’s a great question!
For me, I think it was the cartoons that I grew up watching. They’re still a huge inspiration to me.
The first one I’d like to mention is The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, followed closely by Chowder, created by C. H. Greenblatt.
Honorable mentions, Camp Lazlo and Wow! Wow! Wubzy!.
I feel like these creators really brought a lot of diversity with their characters but more importantly, their creativity. I can’t even begin to gush enough about the artists and animators.
But I knew, when I was watching these shows every single day as a kid… that’s what I wanted to grow up to be.
A creator.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Never met me before? No problem!
Let’s get to know each other better. : D
My name is Lindsie Nichole Nobles.
I go by SPiDER, and the username SpiderFinder on most sites. You’ll also see Artsy Fartsy Spider pop up sometimes, but I don’t really know if I like that name!
I go by they/them and she/her pronouns. I am non-binary. I am panromantic and I am an asexual, but I am leaning closer to asexual sapphic/WLW at this time in my life!
I have two pets, two of which are rescue cats. They’re named Vince, and Samson. I got Vince in 2020 from Rhea County, TN. And I got Samson in 2024 from the surrounding area of Meigs County, TN. I absolutely love my boys!
Vince is going to be the main character in my upcoming children’s short story chapter books/young readers novels!
I am an aspiring children’s book author and illustrator, that is having a hard time committing to projects right now.
I currently have two junior novels I’m writing concepts for, and I’m finalizing my draft now for my children’s picture book.
I’m working on furthering my art skills, and further funding projects, by opening up and online shop this year to also further promote my characters in my books. I look forward to the new opportunities coming my way, constantly!
I also want to start taking regular commissions. That will come, soon enough I hope! I want to start that once I get my Patreon started.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I honestly think the best part about being an artist is the friendship that’s gained in the process.
I love getting involved with other people’s characters and projects, seeing others have such passion honestly fuels my own.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve expirencded haters in the past. When I first started my digital art journey, I got made fun of a lot.
But I kept practicing – but not because I was made fun of. I kept practicing for me, and my friends. I kept practicing, and I will keep on, until I can amaze myself.
I think that people sometimes online devalue various art styles, or art skills. I belive that creativity flourishes under the right light, and that every piece of art isn’t something that needs to be judged. I create for joy, not to show others my skill level.
The friends are what is the most rewarding thing, out of all of this.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
My best advice?
STOP DEAD-SCROLLING. Period.
Stop following 3,000+ accounts where all you do is watch the same stolen content on repeat. Stop mindlessly scrolling all day long.
Artists need you now more then ever.
Just taking time to double tap and like things, to catch up on stories while you make your morning coffee, just checking out their shop and supporting the cheapest items you can, just sharing to a discord server – we need you!
If you like our art styles, share us!
Commision us!
Buy our book!
Post us on social media! Re-share, not repost!
The most important thing is building community, in my honest opinion.
