We recently connected with Lindsey Young and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsey , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
In February 2023 I had the opportunity to attend a 300hr Yoga Teacher Training in Nicaragua with Glow Yoga Retreats. Not only did I have the opportunity to learn from Kayla Nielsen and Jess Mackenzie, but I had the opportunity to learn from 20 other yoga instructors from all over the world. This experience was full of healing and transformation.
We spent an entire month dedicated to yogic studies and practices in an incredible beach front shala. We must always continue to invest in ourselves and approach life with an open mind. The more we collaborate and learn from each other, the more we are able to accomplish.
OM in the Hills is expanding in every direction and we will continue to collaborate as we host retreats, festivals, and other experiences.
Lindsey , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a 500 hr registered traveling yoga instructor, a sound healer, and a musician based out of Yucca, Arizona. In 2022 I let go of most of my material possessions and have been living off-grid in my two Volkswagen campervans. I have made it my mission to share my passions for wellness with as many people as I can so that I may help others step into the best versions of themselves. I have used these tools in my own healing and I am grateful to provide space for my communities to connect to their own practices.
Through OM in the Hills I have had countless opportunities to share the light of yoga and sound healing with the world. OM in the Hills has hosted events, retreats, festivals, and has collaborated with many other individuals sharing their practices. I am a certified stand up paddleboard instructor and an accredited and experienced sound healer.
I take great pride in hosting events in unique places such as Himalayan Salt Caves, Natural Hot Spring & Spas, and a variety of outdoor venues. In sharing my practices at exciting and welcoming venues I aim to invite all in my communities to enjoy the healing practices of yoga and sound healing. I will continue to travel nationally and internationally to host retreats and experiences.
OM in the Hills is more than a community. We have partnered with Meinl to bring you the highest quality of sound healing instruments. If you visit our online store you will find instruments hand picked by myself from the collection available for purchase as well as merchandise and yoga attire. I am available for sound healing consultations to help you find the perfect sound healing instruments for your collection and to get you started as a sound healer.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
In the yoga field it is important to remember that as teachers we are always students, and that anyone can be our teacher. Everyone can teach us something. As we continue to grow and transform, we are continuing to grow and transform the space that we are able to hold for others.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My husband and I spent one month traveling the Pacific Coast Highway in California to celebrate our honeymoon. When we started our journey we had no idea it would change our lives forever. When we packed our VW bus and hit the road we left with intentions of returning home to our fully furnished house and “normal” lives. But it left us with a taste of something that we couldn’t get enough of. On the road things were simple. We felt free, like we had found a way to let go of all of the things that were holding us down.
Norman, our 81 Westfalia has a reputation of breaking down in the most amazing places. To us this serves as a reminder to take the time to slow down and enjoy the moments in life. The van life has humbled us, and has taught us lessons that we simply couldn’t have learned without spending time on the road. This is one of the journeys that inspired us to transition into full time van life on our off-grid property!
