Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lindsey Soza. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lindsey, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I’m not much of a risk taker. I hate not knowing the outcome and if it will be good or bad. However, the best risk I’ve taken is becoming a business owner of two businesses. My first business Jaasi K Jewelry was a huge risk and investment for me. I wanted to do this because I had just had my son and i wanted to pursue financial freedom. I wanted another source of income coming in. Putting myself out there and not knowing if people would support or even like the jewelry was terrifying. I came up with the idea one night and just decided I wanted to take this risk and if it didn’t work out oh well, at least i tried. I went for my LLC, and started getting everything together that I needed to really throw myself into this business. It took lots of money, time, & effort. It seems so easy, just open a business, BUT there’s really a lot to it. You have to have a plan and really know that you are investing your money and time to building a brand/business. At first, it’s hard bc if you are like me, I am not an influencer, i don’t have a big following, & I’m a regular gal. So this is a risk bc i know i won’t see a return on my risk/investment immediately. I really wanted to blow up the first couple of months so i really worked hard to post, make TikTok’s, and be SUPER consistent in putting Jaasi K Jewelry out there. I think as time went on, i kind of got down on myself for things not moving as fast as i wanted that I started to not be as motivated/consistent. After months of evaluating, healing, and thinking I finally decided to pick things back up. I knew i still had this business that I created and I didn’t want to give up just yet. Things are now better balanced with my business and my second business Jaasi K Divine (lashes, brows, & body sculpting). I think taking those months really helped me get a good balance between my business and reevaluate everything. I’m so happy i have taken the risk to become a business owner bc it only motivated me to be more creative and come up with more ideas such as my second business and much more!
Lindsey, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a 24 year old Latina woman with a 2 year old son. My son is the reason behind my spontaneous idea to open a business 2 years ago. Which led me to now be a 2x business owner and become a strong, determined, woman. Jaasi K Jewelry is an e-commerce business which does have a boutique location located at GlamourHouse Studios on 2517 N main st, HTX. It is all things gold/silver stainless steel jewelry. The jewelry is water resistant, tarnish free and hypoallergenic. We have a good variety of necklaces, bracelets, rings, charms, nose studs/hoops, earrings and more! I also have Jaasi K Divine which is a beauty based business. It is Body sculpting, lash lifts, and now brow lamination to help enhance your natural beauty within. I really love making woman feel confident and empowered. That is why i created these businesses to help woman feel a boost of confidence with a jewelry piece or a lash/brow/body enhancement. We all deserve to feel empowered. And beautiful.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Funding my business was something I knew i had to do in order to be successful and be able to provide products to clients. I was going to school at UHV at the time, and I had accepted another loan for my classes in order to help fund my business. It was def a risk using the loan money from school, but I knew it was an investment that if i worked hard enough would pay off and could become passive income. So with the loan money, i purchased inventory, took photos of my products, purchased my LLC, and all materials/supplies i would need to be able to ship/pack orders successfully.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started my Instagram page and Facebook page for Jaasi K Jewelry and Jaasi K Divine from 0. I began putting the word out by posting on my personal social media about my new business. I also had family members/friends sharing posts so that way I can get more followers/customers. I also made sure to post every 2-3 days as well as try and be active on stories. This helps keep people engaged and keeps you relevant. I also would host pop ups for Jaasi K Jewelry which helped local people follow my brand and business. Another cool thing to do is host giveaways and have people tag 2-3 ppl under as a rule and share the post. This really helps build clientele and attract people who like your post/products.
