We recently connected with Lindsey Roach and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsey, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I worked in the social work and insurance industry for 15 years prior to getting into the spiritual & holistic wellness arena. In 2020 I was fully burnt out and completely dissatisfied with my career path, longing for something I could do to help others in a deeper and more meaningful way. I dove into sound healing training in summer of 2020 and reiki training in early 2021 and noticed my whole outlook and life was shifting and expanding. After having to take medical leave in 2021 due to work stress at my day job, I decided enough was enough. I stepped out in faith and quit my corporate job in November of 2021 to pursue a business in sound medicine and energy work. With little savings and no real plan, I lived off my 401k while I built up my business and secured teaching opportunities and spaces to host events and private sessions. Over the last two years I have found a home base at a local yoga studio (Sojourn Healing Collective; that I now also manage part-time) to host sound healing classes and workshops, I host sound healing-centric events all over San Diego and beyond in incredible spaces (The Japanese Friendship Garden, The San Diego Botanic Garden, The Fleet Science Center Dome, desert festivals, wellness retreats in Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico, etc), I collaborate with several other amazing facilitators to create events focused on the added power of other modalities (yoga, reiki, acupuncture, breathwork, crystal healing, plant medicine, astrology, etc), I became a part of a beautiful sound healing band with 2 other women, I am a seller/distributor of sound healing instruments (I sell anything you can think of from drums to crystal bowls to gongs, etc), I co-created a small business selling sacred edible cacao treats and I’m co-hosting my first women’s retreat in Sedona next May. Though it has not been an easy 2 years (self entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart!), the spaciousness and satisfaction provided to me through this shift in what I do with my life – a life of heart-led service – has been the best decision I’ve ever made. Witnessing the healing power of sound and being able to share it with others is the greatest joy of my life.

Lindsey, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For folks who may not have read about you before, can you please tell our readers about yourself, how you got into your industry / business / discipline / craft etc, what type of products/services/creative works you provide, what problems you solve for your clients and/or what you think sets you apart from others. What are you most proud of and what are the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you/your brand/your work/ etc. Please provide as much detail as you feel relevant as this is one of the core questions where the reader will get to know about you and your brand/organization/etc
I have a degree in social work, so on some level I know I have always wanted to do something for a living that I feel could make a positive impact on the lives of others. Unfortunately, I found myself burnt out with the government system / social work / insurance industries and navigated a period of depression and stress in 2020 that led me to knowing I was meant to do something else with my life that could not only bring me joy, but also be more impactful for others who I worked with. I journey with psychedelics as a healing tool and as a way to connect to a different frequency of thought and action so during a psychedelic journey in 2020 I received the message that I was supposed to be working in healing energy modalities and I was told to start with sound healing. I listened and joined a sound healing training in the summer of 2020 and as soon as I played my first instrument a knowing washed over me that I had found exactly what I was meant to do on this earth in this lifetime. That I had certainly done this in other lifetimes. It was a homecoming. I began gathering instruments and hosting sound events and never looked back. I feel a huge call to innovate the modality of sound healing, so over the years I have paired events with many other modalities – amplifying the medicine of each and creating immersive experiences for people to go deeply within themselves, to gift themselves a period of true rest and self-care, to bring joy and awe into healing spaces and witness others receive powerful shifts and insights. As a facilitator, my call is to guide others to become their own healers – to come back to the wisdom they hold within – simply walking one another home. As a sound alchemist and energy worker I am here to guide others through both the light and dark in order to facilitate a deeper opening of the heart and energetic expansion. I spend a lot of time connecting with my instruments and flowing with the magic of vibrational medicine so that the experiences I offer can act as a bridge between heaven and earth. I channel energy from the higher realms when I am facilitating experiences and take energetic protection very seriously so that those who receive from me are able to do so in a safe space. My love for creating music and soundscapes that have the ability to balance and restore people on both a physical and energetic level is evident in all that I offer. Connecting people to this powerful medicine is a gift that I am truly grateful for and I am continually in awe of what it provides for recipients – stress and anxiety relief, help with sleeping, balancing and resetting the nervous system, releasing stuck energy, emotions and trauma stored in the body, alleviating pain (especially in cancer patients I’ve worked with), cleansing the chakras, shifting of mindsets, visions or messages received from guides or their higher selves, creative ideas birthed – sound healing is miraculous. There is so much power and healing available in giving yourself the space to rest and receive through vibrational medicine and to hold space for that is an honor.
My business name is Cosmic Resonance and people have an array of opportunities to join me for private sessions or group classes or events. I host workshops or sound healings for groups, retreats, etc and love collaborating with others to create unique experiences. Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
When entering the holistic/spiritual/wellness community and field the best advice I can offer is to lead with your heart and remain consistent, dedicated and true to yourself, your word and work. People will want to work with you and will want to continue to work with you if you are sharing your gifts authentically from the heart and you are doing so in integrity – it will be felt. If you’re going to do something, go ALL in, be knowledgeable about what you’re doing and providing and continue to learn and expand as you do. Be true to YOU – it’s easy to compare yourself to what others are doing or their success but it will not serve you – find your path within the wellness field ( sound healing and energy work ) and pave your own way, make your own rules. The beauty of creating your own heart-led business is that you get to do it exactly the way that you want. Make time for yourself! Your own healing and self-care practices should be at the top of your priorities – facilitators must take care of their own energy hygiene in order to give from a full cup. Find the ways that nourish you the most in order to fill up your cup so you’re giving from overflow.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Authenticity & reliability. 100%. People want to receive healing services from someone who is an authentic human that is dedicated to their craft and providing a valuable and impactful service. Find something that truly lights you up and brings you joy so that you can hone your skills and gifts within that and share it with others. If your heart is in what you’re doing and you are dedicated to providing a high level experience each time you share your unique medicine, this will attract those who are meant to work with you and receive what you’re offering. Show up (on time!) for the sessions and events you book and always fully commit to the experience you’re offering with your full presence; this builds trust. People who enjoy working with you will then tell others – word of mouth has been the biggest way my business has grown.
