We recently connected with Lindsey Rapp and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsey, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
One of the most impactful pieces of advice I ever gave a client was helping her understand that her breakouts weren’t just a ‘skin issue’ but a reflection of what was happening internally. She came to me after trying every product she could find online, feeling discouraged and convinced her skin was just ‘difficult.’
During her consultation at Lindsey Rapp Skin, I noticed a pattern in her congestion and inflammation that lined up with what I often see when the gut-skin axis is out of balance. Instead of jumping straight to aggressive treatments, I recommended a more strategic plan. We paired a customized Korean-inspired facial regimen with gentle exfoliation, barrier repair, and LED therapy. Then I gave her one key piece of advice
that changed everything:
‘Your skin will transform when your routine, your gut, and your stress levels work together – not against each other.’
I encouraged her to shift a few daily choices choosing anti-inflammatory meals a little more often, reducing whey protein and simplifying her skincare routine
Within eight weeks, her skin completely changed. Her inflammation calmed, her texture smoothed out, and she told me she finally felt in control of her skin for the first time in years.
But the biggest result wasn’t just the visible transformation. She said she felt confident again. She told me she finally recognized her skin as something she could nurture, not fight.
That moment really shaped the way I practice. It confirmed my belief that great estheticians don’t just treat the surface. We teach clients how to partner with their skin. And when they do, the results are not only dramatic but lasting.
That’s the heart of what I do at Lindsey Rapp Skin
I blend advanced clinical treatments with education, so every client leaves feeling empowered, supported, and truly seen.”

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Lindsey Rapp, a licensed esthetician and dietitian, and the owner of Lindsey Rapp Skin, a boutique facial studio located in Waterford, Michigan. My work blends Korean skincare techniques, clinical-grade treatments, and nutrition-forward skin education to create results that are both beautiful and sustainable. Clients travel from Waterford, West Bloomfield, Birmingham, and all across Oakland County because they’re looking for a facial experience that’s not just relaxing but transformational.
My journey into skincare started long before I ever opened my doors. As a dietitian, I spent years studying how inflammation, stress, hormones, and gut health influence overall wellbeing. I saw firsthand how internal imbalance shows up externally through acne, premature aging, sensitivity, and dullness. When I decided to transition into esthetics, I knew I wanted to bring that knowledge with me. My passion became helping people feel confident not only in their skin but in their understanding of their skin.
At Lindsey Rapp Skin, I specialize in Korean facials, microneedling, anti-aging treatments, acne care, and barrier-repair focused services. I use product lines such as Corthe, KRX, Dermathod, and Pfecta to help clients achieve real, noticeable changes in tone, texture, firmness, and clarity. I’m known for creating deeply customized treatment plans that address root causes rather than just symptoms. Many clients come to me after years of trying random products, harsh routines, or one-size-fits-all treatments that didn’t work for their skin.
What truly sets me apart is my whole-body approach. I don’t just cleanse the skin and send clients home. I look at lifestyle patterns, nutrition, stress, sleep quality, product history, and skin behavior. I’m especially passionate about teaching clients how the gut-skin axis, inflammatory foods, and hormonal fluctuations can influence breakouts and aging. When clients understand their patterns, their skin can finally heal in a way that lasts.
The problems I solve most often include:
persistent breakouts
sensitized or over-exfoliated skin
premature aging
post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
dullness and dehydration
stagnant results from previous treatments
I help clients break that frustrating cycle and finally see progress.
I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built with my community. I’ve had clients cry with relief when they finally feel hopeful about their skin. Most have stopped hiding behind heavy makeup. I’ve seen people walk out of my treatment room standing taller because their confidence was restored. That’s why I do what I do.
What I want potential clients, collaborators, and industry professionals to know is that my brand is built on education, integrity, and personalized care. I don’t sell quick fixes. I create long-term plans that honor the skin, support the body, and respect the client’s goals. My space is warm, private, and grounding. My approach is clinical yet intuitive. My mission is to help people feel deeply seen, supported, and empowered in their skincare journey.
Whether someone is looking for advanced treatments like microneedling, a Korean-inspired rejuvenating facial, acne support, or simply a skincare plan that finally makes sense, I’m here to guide them with honesty, compassion, and evidence-based care.
That’s the heart of Lindsey Rapp Skin.”

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been creating an exceptional client experience that people naturally want to share with others. In the skincare industry, genuine word of mouth is one of the most powerful forms of marketing, and I have built my business around making every appointment feel personal, intentional, and results focused. Clients leave feeling cared for, educated, and confident in their skin, and they often tell their friends, coworkers, and family about their experience.
When someone walks into Lindsey Rapp Skin, they immediately feel a sense of calm and trust. My approach combines advanced Korean skincare techniques, clinical treatments like microneedling and LED therapy, and customized home care guidance based on the client’s unique skin goals. When clients see real improvement in their tone, texture, breakouts, sensitivity, or overall radiance, they become long term clients and enthusiastic referrers.
Collaboration has also been incredibly effective. Connecting with local wellness professionals and other small business owners has expanded my reach throughout Waterford, West Bloomfield, Birmingham, and the broader Oakland County community. Whether it is cross referral partnerships, podcast interviews, or community events, collaboration helps me connect with people who value a high quality, holistic skincare experience.
Ultimately, the heart of my growth has come from consistency. Consistent results. Consistent communication. Consistent high level care. Clients return to places where they feel seen, supported, and understood. That is the foundation of everything I do at Lindsey Rapp Skin.”

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Several resources have shaped the way I approach both entrepreneurship and client care at Lindsey Rapp Skin. I believe great leaders and business owners never stop learning, and I draw inspiration from a mix of mindset work, business strategy, psychology, and wellness education.
One of the most influential books for me has been Atomic Habits by James Clear. It taught me the power of small, consistent actions and how the tiniest improvements lead to massive results over time. I use that philosophy not only in my business systems but also in how I guide clients through their skincare routines. Skin transformation is built through consistency, not extremes, and this book helped me articulate that.
Another resource that shaped my approach is The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan and Dr Benjamin Hardy. It reminded me to measure progress based on how far I have come rather than how far I still need to go. This mindset keeps me grounded, grateful, and focused on growth rather than perfection. It has also influenced how I encourage clients to celebrate improvements in their skin even before they reach their end goals.
I also love the way Simon Sinek talks about leadership and trust. His content on creating a true sense of safety and belonging in any business has inspired the environment I offer inside my treatment room. Clients can feel when a space is created with intention, and that has been meaningful in the way I serve my community.
As an esthetician with a nutrition background, I am constantly studying the gut skin connection, inflammatory pathways, and the science behind Korean skincare. I regularly learn from dermatology webinars, functional nutrition trainings, and Korean skincare innovators. This ongoing education keeps my treatments modern, effective, and deeply informed.
Overall, these resources have shaped my philosophy of leading with integrity, staying curious, delivering consistent value, and creating a client experience that feels calm, supportive, and results driven. I believe great businesses are built on both skill and heart, and these teachings continue to influence the way I show up every day.
