Lindsey, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

I was over at a family member’s home and they had a hand knit chunky blanket on their couch, I absolutely love blankets! I asked them where they got the blanket and they told me someone made it and that person said it was not too hard to make them, so I decided that night to search how to make a chunky blanket. I bought yarn, tried it, and loved it! I became hooked and made a few more for close family members to get practice and then had other family members ask to pay for me to make one for them, then it all began!

Hello, my name is Lindsey Horner and I make hand knit chunky chenille blankets! I have always loved blankets and bringing warmth to others. These blankets are a type of therapy for me, and I enjoy making them. I have also made chunky chenille pumpkins and bumble bees. I keep my prices low so that others are able to afford them and it is a way to give back to others by doing so. I take pride in my blankets and hope everyone loves them!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

The best source of new clients for me is word of mouth! I love when my clients tell others how much they enjoy the blankets and then others reach out to me. I had clients purchase a blanket for a present, keep it for themself, then buy another for the original gift.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is by posting every custom order blanket that I have made to show the many possibilities for colors/patterns/sizes. I find that showing my work to others gives them ideas of their own to order a custom blanket themselves.
