We were lucky to catch up with LINDSEY Hohlt recently and have shared our conversation below.
LINDSEY, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
I actually attribute a huge portion of my business to my social media and I manage it myself! I am the face and voice of my social and my entire business in general. I have always felt that I wouldn’t be able have my authentic brand shine through if it wasn’t me behind the screen! My social media is a mixture of our retail jewelry pieces, custom jewelry items, and fun tidbits from my personal life!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I grew up in Houston and then studied Fashion Merchandising at LSU, TX. After years in the fashion, modeling, and fine jewelry industry, I started my own fine jewelry company in order to provide customers with a luxury product in a comfortable, approachable atmosphere. We provide dainty, stackable fine jewelry, as well as custom jewelry and engagement rings!
We are education based and help our clients through the process while enlightening them on the ins and outs of the fine jewelry world. We want all of our clients to leave our shop, or site, feeling confident as well as excited about what they are purchasing. I no longer wanted clients to feel too intimidated to walk into a jewelry store or to ask questions about the engagement ring they were designing/purchasing. I have cultivated an environment where we value the relationships created with each one of our clients and work very closely with them throughout the custom process. They feel heard and have a seat at the table of designing this piece that is so special and will be worn for life.
While my business was not willed down to me by a family member, it is very much a family business. From my 15 month old running around the shop, to my husband doing USPS runs and managing the books, to all the amazing ladies that work for me that feel like family, we are a labor of love and a strong team. Customers can feel that when they walk in the door or when they watch my stories on social media. From the first moment you interact with our team to unboxing your finished product, our goal is that your experience with Lindsey Leigh Jewelry feels far from the typical salesman/purchaser relationship and more like a trusted friend.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My reputation is built on customer relationships and giving the same quality service each time a client returns and to every client that we work with. We pride ourselves on education and being transparent with all our customers. As a woman owned and run business, it is important to us that our customers feel comfortable asking any question without feeling intimated. Because our clients do feel so comfortable with our team, we see many repeat clients come back after their first purchase. Whether it be an engagement ring, wedding band, push present or a birthday gift from our in stock selection, we have become their go-to jeweler for any and every celebration. One great experience for a customer leads to their entire network becoming lifelong clients. Our client’s word of mouth has become such a staple in growing my clientele that it has allowed me to focus my advertising solely on social media.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
My husband always says, one of the most important things in a relationship is that you are always having fun. I tend to pull from that for my team as well. We work hard and things might get stressful, but at the end of the day we find time to laugh and lean on each other for support. I have a weekly meeting with my entire team where we discuss the upcoming events, appointments, and deadlines to make sure we are all on the same page. I have an open door policy. No one is afraid to ask for help or guidance. My team is a group of talented and motivated young women. Some of us are moms, some of us are just started our careers, but all of us have our clients at the forefront of our minds. When we start and end every day with that in mind, we are all working towards the same goal.
