Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lindsey Capron. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lindsey, appreciate you joining us today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
To say that I only have just one hero would be an understatement. I consider myself abundantly blessed and fortunate to be surrounded by a tiny but mighty tribe of history makers, ground breakers, and movers and shakers. If I can’t name one, here are some.
My husband Donovan Capron, has been my rock and BIGGEST supporter in both my blog and in our web/branding/media business, Capron Creations Design Studio. He’s tremendously knowledgable in both business and media. He’s taught me so much about making smart business decisions when it comes to designing and creativity, delegating, and finding innovative ways to enhance the client experience while keeping up with a work life balance. His influence has helped me push the borders of creativity in a tactful and elegant way.
Genevieve Carvil-Harris, a dear friend and business coach, is definitely a hero. She’s legendary in my book. Capron Creations Design Studio wouldn’t have existed if it wasn’t for her. Genevieve showed me how to start a business when I virtually had no money to start one in the thick of pandemic in 2020. Her brilliant, simplistic, and lucrative strategies of starting and growing a business knows no bounds. She’s taught me how to be resourceful helping me empower my clients to do the same. She really does live up to her name as the “World’s Favorite Capacity Building Strategist.”
I consider my clients as heroes too. The clients that I’ve been privileged to work with are my priority in business. I always strive to make an impact in their projects and lives. But there are moments when they much such a huge impact in my life. I’ve learned so much from my clients. My clients teach me how to really listen to their needs to make sure that their vision for their projects come to life. They encourage me while helping me step out of my comfort zone with designing.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Lindsey Capron. I’m a Southern California transplant living in Fort Lauderdale Florida. I’m a Christian faith and lifestyle Blogger and entrepreneur as a Web/Brand Designer at Capron Creations Design Studio.
After getting married and immediately moving from California to Florida in November 2017, I started my Christian faith and blog LoveGraceAnd Light. Within a year’s time of me starting my blog, I was teaching other Christian bloggers how to start a blog while designing websites for them.
My first client who I helped design her successful and thriving Christian blog and business gave me the idea to start my own web/branding design business in 2019. In the thick of the pandemic, with very little money and the help of a phenomenal business coach, I was able to launch a business that me and my husband, Donovan, could run called Capron Creations Design Studio July 2020.
Capron Creations Design Studio offers strategic and opulent web and branding designs for bloggers, businesses, and entrepreneurs who desires a strong and recognizable online presence. We strategically outline what makes pronounced online presence with emotional connection from typography, color palette, and visual aesthetics. We also offer audio media services such as podcasting, film, and music production.
Capron Creations Design Studio embraces creative vision and quality in media and web presence while serving luxury service. If you’re looking for cutting edge web/branding and media, me and my husband would love to work with you.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I would say the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is experiencing and sharing the sheer excitement and joy my clients have when they see the finished and polish product of their website or branding project. There’s a certain satisfaction I get knowing that everything that me and the client worked for comes to that special moment. It shows that not only is my work valued but ultimately the client is satisfied. When the client is satisfied, so am I.
What do you wish most people knew about being creative?
Creating and delivering excellent designs is like a game show that you watch on TV. The end is result is to bring a positive, fun, and effortless experience to your audience in a certain timeframe.
Just like there’s more to a studio crew pressing the big, red “Record” button with a live studio audience, being a creative is more than that also. There are so many moving parts and things that are done behind the scenes that the client or someone who isn’t as creatively inclined won’t be aware of in order for the creative vision to come to life.
Excellent designs isn’t only clicking a few buttons, typing a few words and computer codes, copying, pasting, and doodling designs. The process can be long, tedious, and often repetitive. There are cuts made when it comes to certain rejected designs ideas, constant edits to fine tune and blend in for designs that strategically work. There’s testing, mixing, and quality assurance to make sure that everything is running smoothly while enjoying the process of creating. It all takes time.
Also, it can be a struggle sometimes to remain inspired as a creative so self-care is extremely important to me. I pour my all into my designs. I’ll have my good, horrible, and off days. There are also moments where I’ll find myself in a creative drought or burned out. I generally bounce back but there are ebbs and flows when it comes to the nature of being a creative.
Finally, I realize that my design style may not be not for everyone. However, it’s important for those who non-creatives to understand that creatives such as myself go through great lengths to design excellent work and we’ll never cheapen or diminish our value for someone who doesn’t find value in ours.
When you value your work, valuable people will also.
