We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lindsey Ault a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It takes determination to be successful. Both of my worlds with my marketing company as well as with dance, you need to learn to keep going despite being told no. I’ll offer my content creation and management services to brands in need but they will decline. I cant let that bring my drive to a stop, I have to push and ask the next because I know my services are worth it! Dance is the same when auditioning you aren’t guaranteed that position even if you’re talented! They look for more than skills, it’s about performance and even comes down to body type and looks. Determination is needed to make it in both industries. Keep going.

Lindsey, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started dancing at the age of four. I did the typical ballet and tap toddler combo. As I grew up I tried a variety of things such as pottery, gymnastics, but ultimately went back to dance. Hip hop ended up being my favorite and what I trained in through Texas Cheer and Dance. I didn’t prefer cliquey studios nor did I like ballet anyway. I competed through them and other teams before joining my high school team and learning other genres like jazz, novelty, pom, and more. After graduating I started to take heels classes. This opened the door for a wonderful connection as the teacher is now my manager for the entertainment company Moonlight Dance, that I’ve been with since 17. I enjoy being part of this company and am thankful looking back on my experiences and the times I’ve been told no because they make the times I’m told yes even more special.
As for my media and marketing company, I also started that journey more intensely after graduating. I interned for ClassyChic under Kristina Edwards and Alexis Christine. They opened that door for me to take my social media more seriously and as a way to make money. I took their training and put it into my own page. Having grown my page, I decided to help other pages. My media management offers full on assistance to narrowed content creation. Depending on a brands budget and needs, I can offer more or less services. I’ll recommend what I see fits best for them while accommodating to their budget. Designing, photography, content, it’s all artistic for me. Dance is as well but more so physically expressive where as designing a brand is more intellectually creative for me. Both I love and artistic but in their own ways challenge my creativity!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My presence started when I realized anyone can do influencing. In fact, anyone can be a content creator or entrepreneur. It takes finding a niche, which is typically a passion of yours, and making content pillars out of that niche. If you can educate, entertain, post value, amongst other pillars, than people will enjoy your posts thus the algorithm will promote it to more. Your target audience is whom your brand language, colors, etc should speak to as well. If this doesn’t help, I’d be more than happy to explain and offer my services since it’s what I do! Have you ever had to pivot?
Social media allows for pivoting CONSTANTLY. Instagram is always updating and throwing curve balls at content creators. This can be a challenge for my personal page but for the brands I manage as well. Keeping up with the trends and the updates is to constantly pivot what seems like weekly. While it’s frustrating, it’s also an opportunity to learn which results in growth if not analytically, then creatively in trying to find new content to fit the new algorithms and wants!
