We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lindsaya VanDeusen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsaya, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Absolutely! As a wellness, health, and beauty advocate, my journey began 18 years ago when I became a mother. Growing up with poor nutrition, chronic illness, and an eating disorder, I became determined to give my daughter a different experience. I set out to simplify and demystify the abundance of health information available and created my own Conscious Consumption Strategies through my work with professionals and mentors.
For years, I used a room-by-room, topic-by-topic, and ingredient-by-ingredient approach to take control of my own health and empower others to do the same. This approach has become the foundation of the Wellness Warrior Collective, where we aim to make Amplifying the Wellness Warrior Within approachable, simple, convenient, and affordable for everyone. We achieve this through our private community, community events, retreats, podcasts, and curated partnerships

Sure, I can definitely speak to that. At the Wellness Warrior Collective, our mission is to make wellness and healthy living approachable, simple, convenient, and affordable for everyone. We believe that everyone deserves access to the tools and resources they need to take control of their own health and well-being, and that’s why we offer a range of resources, including our private community, community events, retreats, podcasts, and curated partnerships. Our approach is rooted in Conscious Consumption Strategies that I developed through my own journey towards better health and wellness. We’ve helped thousands of families add more plants to their diets, grow their own gardens, and improve their overall health and well-being. We’re committed to cultivating change and empowering Wellness Warriors to take control of their health and well-being.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I am proud to say that my upbringing has shaped me into the community leader I am today. Growing up in poverty with a single mom was not easy, but it taught me resilience and self-sufficiency. I had to learn to source my own food and make do with what was available. However, the lack of access to healthy food options led to a host of health issues that plagued me well into adulthood.
I developed an eating disorder as a result of the misinformation perpetuated in the fitness industry, but I eventually realized that true health had as much to do with what I was adding in my diet as what I was removing. This realization led me down a path of healing, and I am proud to say that I have been able to throw away my inhaler and overcome my other health issues.
My journey has taught me the importance of education and access to healthy food options, and I am dedicated to using my experience to help others. As a community leader, I strive to empower others to take control of their health and wellness by providing them with the resources and knowledge they need to make informed decisions.
I am grateful for my past experiences because they have shaped me into the person I am today, and I am honored to be able to use my story to inspire others. I hope that my journey can serve as a reminder that no matter what obstacles we face, with perseverance and determination, we can overcome them and achieve our goals.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Here are some key takeaways that have helped me build my social media presence:
- Be omni-present: As you mentioned, being present on multiple platforms can help people find you and also act as third-party validation for your business. Make sure to choose the platforms that your target audience is most active on, and use them consistently to build your brand.
- Be authentic: Your followers want to connect with a real person behind the brand, so be yourself and let your personality shine through. Share your values, your passions, and your vision for your business in a way that resonates with your audience.
- Have a clear vision: People are more likely to engage with you if they understand what you stand for and what you offer. Be clear about what you teach or offer in your portfolio of business, and make sure that your content is aligned with your vision and values.
- Speak to your audience: Social media is a powerful tool for connecting with your audience in an intimate way. Make sure that you are creating content that speaks directly to them and addresses their needs, challenges, and desires. This will help to build a loyal following of raving fans.
