Alright, Lindsay thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I founded The Nanny League back in 2010, right in the heart of Los Angeles, California. This endeavor came about after I made the transition from a career in the entertainment industry to becoming a full-time live-in nanny. It was during my time as a nanny that I had the opportunity to wear many hats and gain firsthand experience in the field of childcare. This experience opened my eyes to the pressing need for high-quality childcare services.
At its core, The Nanny League has always been committed to setting a high standard in the industry. From the very beginning, we took a pioneering approach by being one of the first agencies to require a college degree for all our candidates. Our mission has consistently revolved around matching families with not just any caregivers, but with college-educated, highly competent, creative, and nurturing individuals.
Over the years, our agency has grown and expanded its reach. Today, we proudly serve families in all 50 states across the United States. Our dedicated team, led by women, is passionate about connecting the country’s top professionals, celebrities, and influencers with our extensive network of exceptional nannies and other household professionals.
Even as The Nanny League has evolved, one thing has remained constant: my love for connecting people, whether it’s on a professional or personal level. I firmly believe that relationships are the driving force behind so much of what makes the world go round, and I’m thrilled that our agency can play a part in creating meaningful connections within families and communities.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I initially wanted to build The Nanny League because I saw firsthand that there was a void in the childcare industry: no one was requiring a college degree for its nanny applicants. Having worked at a high level in the television and film industry, and then in a high-profile household as a nanny, I saw how someone with a higher education & corporate background could play a pivotal role in an affluent, bustling family’s life. This concept of requiring the minimum of a bachelor’s degree is what initially set us apart from the competition over a decade ago, but many agencies have followed suit since then.
I had always intended for The Nanny League to become a platform to bring awareness to child sexual abuse education, prevention, and mitigation, as a survivor myself. Thus, our active participation in this mission, and in giving back to the community on a global scale, is what further separates us from other household staffing agencies.
In 2017, The Nanny League formed a partnership with the non-profit, charitable 501(c)(3) organization Stop the Silence® – A Department of the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma, with the primary aim of developing an online training program exclusively tailored for nannies. This program focused on child sexual abuse prevention and mitigation. Through this collaboration, we designed a comprehensive training course that equips nannies with essential knowledge about child sexual abuse, including aspects related to trafficking. The training covered topics such as understanding what child sexual abuse is, its consequences, prevention strategies, how to recognize potential issues, and the proper procedures for reporting any concerns. As a result of this initiative, we are proud to share that we’ve contributed over $25,000 in support of Stop the Silence®’s mission.
Additionally, I am deeply honored to serve on the Advisory Board for the Erin Levitas Foundation (ELF). As part of our commitment to child safety and education, we provide all new clients and nannies with a copy of ELF’s ‘Every Body Talk’ book. This book serves as an introduction to age-appropriate caregiver-to-child conversations about body safety, child abuse prevention, and ultimately, sexual assault prevention. It is specifically designed for children from birth through eight years of age. ‘Every Body Talk’ serves as a valuable guide for caregivers to initiate conversations with children about their bodies and personal safety. By enabling children to discuss anything that concerns them regarding their bodies, we take the first crucial step in ensuring their safety and well-being. This initiative reflects our dedication to proactive child protection and empowerment.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
There are a few key factors that have helped us build our reputation within our market:
First, we specialize in a niche market. We exclusively represent educated, thoughtful, and highly qualified individuals who are deeply passionate about childcare, education, and efficient household management. We like to say that our candidates are thought leaders in the household, possessing high emotional intelligence. They are not only hands-on and engaged but also exceptionally resourceful and discerning. Their intellectual and emotional range allows them to cater to the unique needs of each family we serve.
Secondly, we place a significant emphasis on referrals. Some of our best clients and candidates have come to us through direct referrals from people they know and trust. It’s incredibly important to us that everyone who works with us has a positive experience, ensuring that our name frequently comes up in conversations when people are seeking the best household staffing solutions or the job of their dreams.
Lastly, our core values revolve around integrity, passion, and collaboration. We always prioritize the best interests of both our clients and nannies. We provide support throughout the hiring process and even during the working relationship when necessary. Our team is genuinely passionate about what we do, and we take immense pride in our daily work, particularly in the art of matchmaking. Additionally, we enjoy partnering with other like-minded brands and services to enhance the experience for all our members and clientele.

Our process is thorough, ensuring that whether a nanny is a seasoned professional or a recent college graduate, they undergo meticulous scrutiny. This includes:
We perform comprehensive background checks, encompassing federal and state criminal history and driving records. This step is vital to ensure the safety and security of the families we serve. We also conduct Megan’s Law clearance to identify any potential risks related to child safety. Transcript verifications are carried out to ensure that our nannies meet our educational standards, setting us apart in the industry. Our reference checks are meticulous, providing valuable insights into the candidate’s professional history and character. This helps us ensure that they are not only qualified but also the right fit for the family.
Moreover, we stress the importance of discretion and confidentiality to all our nannies. We make it clear that maintaining the utmost privacy is a non-negotiable requirement for any candidate, and we’re willing to formalize this commitment through confidentiality agreements if desired.
