We were lucky to catch up with Lindsay St. Laurent recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lindsay thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
As an independent film director and the proud owner of Crooked Pine Motion Pictures, I am deeply passionate about bringing meaningful stories to life through the lens of diversity and creativity. For me, filmmaking is not just about entertainment; it’s a powerful platform for reflecting the richness and complexity of the human experience.
One of the cornerstones of our approach at Crooked Pine Motion Pictures is the dedication to spotlighting female-driven narratives. Being a female director, I find immense value in amplifying the voices of women and exploring their stories in a way that resonates authentically. It’s about creating a space where these narratives can be celebrated and shared with a broader audience.
In addition to gender diversity, we also place a strong emphasis on age-based diversity and other dimensions of inclusivity. Our commitment to showcasing a range of perspectives is evident in our upcoming short film, “Lunch Break,” set to premiere at Atlanta After Dark in February 2024. This film introduces audiences to two best friend demon women navigating their lunch break in hell, intending to catch up with each other but continually interrupted by human problems. It’s a story that blends grounded truth with imaginative elements, creating a unique viewing experience that reflects the vibrancy of the human spirit.
For me, stories that feel grounded in truth are essential, but I also believe in incorporating elements of color and imagination to transport the audience into new realms of possibility. “Lunch Break” is a perfect example of our commitment to storytelling that is both rooted in reality and infused with creative flair.
At Crooked Pine Motion Pictures, we see filmmaking as a powerful tool for fostering understanding, empathy, and connection. Our dedication to diversity and the exploration of unique narratives is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to create films that not only entertain but also leave a lasting impact on our audiences.
I’m excited to continue this journey of meaningful storytelling and to contribute to the evolving landscape of diverse and imaginative cinema.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Honestly, we all might not have spare money to invest. Sharing work, talking about it, showing up for screenings, and giving emotional support GOES MUCH FURTHER than a dollar. The film/television industry is a marathon, not a sprint and that emotional support during a valley (instead of a peak) is very very valuable.
