We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lindsay Rothman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lindsay below.
Lindsay, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
The greatest lesson my parents ever taught me was to let me fail. I almost flunked out of college my first semester because I thought I could coast on charm and just show up for tests. Spoiler alert: that approach didn’t work out—I ended up with makeup classes over the holiday break and had to pay for the rest of my semesters on my own dime.
That hard wake-up call taught me that charm alone doesn’t pay the bills; real effort does. My parents’ decision to let me face my own mistakes forced me to take accountability and fueled my relentless drive to succeed. Every setback now is a reminder to give it my all and never settle for a half-assed effort.
Looking back, I appreciate that early lesson. It didn’t just prepare me for academic challenges—it prepared me for life. Now, I approach every goal with full commitment, knowing that even if I stumble, the responsibility to get back up is entirely on me.

Lindsay, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a lifestyle real estate matchmaker dedicated to curating a luxurious and innovative experience for every client. The approach isn’t just about finding a new home—it’s about connecting individuals with the perfect community that complements their lifestyle. Specializing in high-end residential properties, exclusive market insights, bespoke property tours, community engagement services, and uncovering off-market opportunities, I ensure each new home fits seamlessly with a client’s way of life.
My journey into real estate began from a deeply personal place. I was a special ed teacher turned stay-at-home mom who bought her first home because it was pretty and within my budget—but the community wasn’t mine at all. My agent was nice, but he didn’t take the time to get to know us as a family or even ask questions about what we found important in our day-to-day lives. He knew our budget and how close we wanted to be to the city, and that was that. I hated it there. Three years later, after spending my days with my son exploring every single town in that county until I narrowed it down to the perfect one, I realized that finding the right community was as important as finding the right house.
That personal experience fueled my relentless drive to ensure that every client receives a meticulously curated experience where every detail matters. I am determined to redefine the real estate experience. What sets my brand apart is a no-nonsense commitment to authenticity and quality. Whether navigating luxury listings in upscale neighborhoods or exploring innovative new communities on the rise, I work tirelessly to understand unique needs and match clients with spaces that truly resonate with their life ambitions.
Pride comes from the relationships built with clients—transforming what can be a stressful process into an exciting, fulfilling journey. Every deal is more than a simple transaction; it’s a carefully brokered experience that aligns a client’s lifestyle and aspirations with the right home and community. In this role, it’s not just about buying or selling houses, but about creating lasting connections and delivering a tailored, luxury approach that elevates every real estate experience.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2022, my journey took an unexpected turn when my business partner and cofounder decided to divorce our team. I was devastated—I knew I was good at what I did, but the truth was, I loved working alongside her and had never really wanted to lead a team on my own. That experience literally kicked my ass. I spent a good part of the slow season overwhelmed with anger and tears until one day I got out of bed and decided to just make it happen. Immediately, things started falling into place, and I never looked back.
That painful breakup became my greatest gift. It forced me to realize that my superpowers were always my own and that I didn’t need someone there as a safety net in case I faltered. Since embarking on my solo journey only two short years ago, I’ve built one of the top real estate teams in NY, opened my first independent office, doubled my team’s annual revenue, and taken a leap of faith into the world of technology innovation. It’s an amazing feeling to freely explore my strengths and pursue whatever crazy ideas I have for my brand—because it’s just that… MY brand. Jeez, if you’re out there reading this right now, ex-business partner… Thank you for giving me the gift I never knew I wanted.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The gift of starting out with nothing played a huge role in building my reputation. I took 2.5 years off from teaching to raise my son before being convinced that real estate could be an easy way to make “some extra spending money.” Back then, it was all about the small wins—the idea that even one dollar more than the year before was a win. That stress-free vibe rubbed off on my clients, and pretty soon, I became known for my no-BS, non-salesy approach to selling real estate. People naturally gravitated towards me, appreciating the honesty and zero-pressure experience I provided.
The same goes for my peers. I’ve learned to be humble, kind, and even accept criticism (sometimes, lol). Over the last eight years, I’ve listened to and learned from some of the most impressive agents in the country, slowly infusing their best practices into my own business model—creating its secret sauce. Being genuine, approachable, and enjoyable to work with has made all the difference in a market where you often have to hear from your agent as frequently as you do.
