We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lindsay Fletcher. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lindsay below.
Lindsay, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Strong Happy Blonde started as an Instagram account where I told my mental health journey through post partum depression and anxiety. I shared what worked for me, what didn’t, and daily struggles, etc. Reading my bible gave me hope, and exercise helped change the chemistry in my brain, so I started sharing more and more about those two things. A good workout outfit gave me something to look forward to and so Strong Happy Blonde Boutique was born. Athleisure pieces that can go from the gym to coffee with your girlfriends is my focus. I am passionate about getting women moving, in whatever ways they are able, to get the good juices flowing!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Strong Happy Blonde is a women’s athleisure boutique. We provide women with high quality, dual purpose pieces that can be worn at the gym and brunch from a curated collection of styles in coordinating colors. Many of the brands that we offer are also women-owned. Two of our vendors design their lines right here in our great state of Texas.
We are a people-focused, confidence-building company. Our goal is that every woman who chooses to buy from our boutique feels confident and motivated in our clothing.
Size inclusivity is important to us, so we offer sizes S-2XL in most items.
We are mental health advocates. We will continue to bring awareness to mental health needs as well as donate a portion of every sale to local ministries.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Relationship building has been and always will be a major pillar in growing a business. It is no different in the boutique space. Building relationships and word of mouth will always be the best way to get started. You have to be willing to put yourself out there no matter which industry you choose and you will need others out there advocating for you and your business. Join networking groups in person and online, and serve your fellow members well. Join and volunteer in organizations to get involved in your community. Build relationships by serving people well.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Coming into the boutique world was a major pivot in my career, and very unexpected. I was previously in medical device sales prior to owning this athleisure boutique. I loved my career and had no intentions of changing. As many others did during the pandemic, I re-evaluated my priorities many times over. I asked myself questions like “If I didn’t do this, what would I do?” or “If I were able to make the rules, what would my work life and personal life look like?” My kids are getting older and my family is busier. I found myself resentful of my work and the hours that I was spending building someone else’s dream. So, I decided to build my dream. I know that I can always go back to corporate America, but my kids would never be these ages again and I had to bet on myself this time. There are different stresses with building a business and managing a growing family at the same time, but I’m enjoying learning and building something just for us.
