Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lindsay Coulter. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Lindsay , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I worked on along nine law firms and two doctors on a mass shooting case not realizing that the majority of the victims were children until after agreeing to work on it. I struggled with this a lot but came to the realization that these children needed to be represented and have a voice at their bench trial. I ended up assisting the attorneys to secure a 230 million dollar verdict against the United States Government!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a medical illustrator! I wanted to be a doctor and was enrolled in premed, then received a few flyers for colleges in the mail for medical illustration. I decided to change my major from premed to medical illustration. I studied at two private colleges in a combined program for art and medicine.
I create medical illustrations, animations, interactive projects and timelines for physicians, attorneys, medical device and pharmaceutical companies to create illustrations for educational purposes.
I work a lot with attorneys to create medical demonstrative aids for insurance adjusters, mediations and trials. These medical demonstratives help to secure settlements for severely injured and families of decedents.
I am proud to educate people. To scientifically visualize what’s unseen by the naked eye for the general public!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I pivoted in my career from a full-time job to working for myself full-time after my oldest son was born. I wasn’t ready to send him to daycare after 12 weeks. I moonlit while being employed and then decided to focus on my freelance work full-time and raise my son simultaneously.

Any fun sales or marketing stories?
One of the most pivotal marketing stories was when I branched out on my own. I contacted a lead 8 times before he picked up the phone and took a chance on me!! It was difficult because there are several firms that create medical illustrations. It really depends on the client as to what they are looking for that fits with their needs and personality too.
