Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Coats. Lindsay was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Laurie Urbancik.

Lindsay , can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Business partners Sin Van V and Lindsay Coats met in a dance class circa 2005. We had both danced a majority of our lives – Sin was returning as a teacher at a local studio and Lindsay as an adult student. The connection the two had was instant despite their many differences.

We became friends and over time started hosting charity events benefitting local organizations and families that were in need. Sin for Charity was a 501(c)3 organization that the pair ran for about 3 years. Sin’s creative flair and Lindsay’s organizational skills were a perfect match for ensuring every event was over the top amazing and well-executed. Vendors and people we met along the way often asked if we did event planning for corporations or if we could help with something they were doing (graduation parties, anniversary parties, etc.). So we thought, “why not start a business together?” When we incorporated and opened Stellar Edge PR in April of 2011, our initial plan was to continue planning events and doing all the things that went along with it (flyer/invitation design, landing page creation, email marketing, social media, press, etc.). Then along came Pinterest. Everyone and their brother could now “plan an event” without the help of an expert because the Internet told them they could! However, Lindsay and Sin’s skills expanded far beyond putting together a great party. Our client base grew as did our skillsets. After having gone to school for graphic design and business management respectively, Sin and Lindsay developed a business plan to support small to mid-sized local businesses with services such as graphic design, web design, social media management, search engine optimization, print and digital advertisting, blogging, and yes, event planning.

We started out taking every and any job we could get our hands on. This allowed us to build our network – get out and meet people, talk about their needs and how we could help. Ultimately, it was our goal to help businesses use their marketing dollars in the most efficient way possible getting them the biggest bang for their buck. We went in completely honest (one of our favorite clients loves to tell the story of how we told him his brochure was crap and he needed us) and customized solutions to fit the individual needs of each business.

Over the last 13+ years, our brand has evolved. We changed our name to Stellar Edge Marketing Group in 2015 to encompass an even wider range of services. From just a two woman shop at the back table of a restaurant to a team of 10+ employees, Stellar Edge now offers comprehensive marketing services for businesses of all sizes nationwide.

Please tell us more about your brand, Stellar Edge Marketing Group
Stellar Edge provides a full suite of marketing services – brand development and strategic planning, graphic design, web development and search engine optimization, social media management, digital ad management including pay-per-click, video creation, content planning and writing, event planning and more. A problem many companies face is setting out to achieve the “how” without first knowing the “what.” This can end up wasting precious resources, both time and money. At Stellar Edge, we strive to get to know each of our clients and understand their goals as well as the unique challenges their business faces. We are (sometimes brutally) honest and ensure everyone is on the same page so we can all work together. We consider ourselves an extension of our clients’ business – we’re helping to present people’s dreams to the world. It’s important that everyone is on the same page and understands the expectations and what success looks like. We believe that team work makes the dream work. So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Laurie Urbancik and No Sugar Momma and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with No Sugar Momma.
Laurie was referred to Stellar Edge through a mutual contact (a school mom/Facebook friend of Lindsay’s who happened to be working with Laurie as a baker). No Sugar Momma provides indulgent, nutritionally rich treats that are free of processed sugar ands allergens to elevate consumer well-being and delight taste buds! The company is socially conscious and donates to humanity and Earth initiatives.

The first time we spoke, I think we both knew that this was going to be a great partnership. Laurie is passionate and excited about her business like most entrepreneurs, but there was something different about her. The impetus for creating her business was inspiring – she was committed to finding a new career path that provided her an opportunity to use her 25+ years of Fortune 100 management experience FOR GOOD. She wanted us to know the reason behind why she started her business and the things most important to her – supporting human kind, educating people, and providing healthy alternatives for anyone looking for a delicious treat! It wasn’t just about making sales – it’s about connecting with people and making sure they know her WHY.

We haven’t been working together long, but her passion, energy, honesty, and determination have us very excited for the future of No Sugar Momma.
