Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to LINDSAY ANASTASIO. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
LINDSAY, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Walking away from the corporate world and having steady income was the biggest risk I have ever taken. It started in 2012/2013 when I was working for a boutique Wall St. capital markets consulting co. and was miserable. I have worked so hard my whole life for success and prosperity and always fell short and disappointed with life. I joined the US Army shortly after high school which led me to build the confidence to finish my accounting degree and and follow what I deemed as a successful life path. There was one day in particular at Starbucks in the NYC financial district and started taking my passion for philosophy to the next level by asking the universe big questions and starting to develop my own philosophies about life. It was that day I realized I am not asking the right questions instead I was just reading about other people’s thoughts and perspectives on life as a framework for my own. I became so curious about life that day and life seemed so different. It was like the universe was waiting for this day for awhile for me to wake up to my own existence and path. As a lover of quantum mechanics, I asked the universe “what separates us from Einstein?” and shortly after I pondered this question I started learning about meditation and how to harness my own inner genius by sing both parts of my brain’s hemispheres. That was the day I started exploring meditation which led my life in a very different trajectory and to start on my hero’s journey at a new level. This led to me to start my own accounting consulting co to support the grassroots movements of Brooklyn & Manhattan small businesses and started to live in the “uncomfortableness” of life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am today’s renaissance woman with over fifteen years of extensive NYC management corporate finance experience in conference planning, translation services, capital markets, FinTech, fashion modeling, nonprofit microfinance, communications, and more…
After bidding farewell to Wall St. many years ago, I channeled my boundless energy to create my consulting company, propelling the growth of small businesses in Brooklyn and Manhattan. I am a certified meditation instructor and energy healer with over 100+ hours of Kundalini teacher training. I am also a veteran of the US Army, and my journey has taken me to Pepperdine University, pursuing my Executive MBA. In my spare time, I use my skills as a trained stylist to study fashion design & piano.
My electric presence extends beyond my entrepreneurial ventures. I’m a sought-after panelist at conferences, sharing my expertise on a range of captivating topics, from the success of women in FinTech to the seamless integration of veterans into civilian life. Fueling my insatiable curiosity, I have immersed herself in the realms of quantum physics, philosophy, and spirituality for decades. My thirst for knowledge has led me to explore plant medicine, energy healing, and ancient wisdom in the heartlands of Central and South America. And to top it all off, I effortlessly combine my profound insights with my integrative accounting work, conducting workshops that leave participants buzzing with excitement!
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I love this question! I have been highly influenced by Tim Ferriss’, “4 Hour Work Week,” Nassem Taleb’s “Antifragile,” Abraham Hick’s “Ask, and it is Given,” Maxwell Waltz’s “Pscho-Cybernetics” and Caroline Elliot’s “Existential Kink” to name a few. I am an avid reader and love dipping into various philosophies on life. Additionally, I have a dedicated library on Quantum Mechanics to include books referred by MIT’s archived Quantum Theory classes. I love bridging the gap and correlating various topics, especially in the realm of the study of energy at its most fundamental level. I am passionate about interweaving a macro and micro perspective in an integrative approach to business and life. While I allocate time for daily reading, I also find it imperative to continually work on my inner guidance and intuitive downloads and find myself in groups to strengthen my intuition muscle.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I have many stories on resilience, but my favorite was shortly after high school when I was heading down a rocky path and hit rock bottom. Life has never been easy, but this period was at a new level of difficulty as a young adult and lost in the world. I was living in Long Island, NY, waitressing and partying quite frequently. I was pulled over one night for underage drinking and spent the night in a holding cell. It was humiliating, and I lost my driver’s license for some time. Driving was the only thing that kept me sane, and I did not know how I would recover from such an incident. I pulled myself together and decided to join the US Army. I snuck out of my parent’s house for a week every morning at 4:30 AM to take all the required tests and did not tell a soul until I took my government oath and swore into the armed forces. I knew my family and friends would not support this radical decision, but it was the best strategic move to escape a toxic environment and create my dream life. It was the best decision I ever made and set a new trajectory for my journey.
