We recently connected with Lindsay and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsay, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
While visiting family in Texas last year, my daughter Sofia and I stumbled upon a young girl selling lemonade at a local ball game. Her makeshift stand and entrepreneurial spirit instantly sparked Sofia’s interest in starting a business of her own. Over the past year, that inspiration has blossomed into Sofla Lemon Co., a fresh, playful lemonade brand set to launch in May 2025.
Sofia has worked diligently to bring her vision to life—developing a name, logo, brand suite, and color palette, and even having a custom lemonade stand professionally built. She’s partnered with commercial equipment suppliers and flavoring companies to create a vibrant menu featuring fresh-squeezed lemons, infused flavors, and fun toppers like cotton candy and gummy bears. With her own POS system in place and her business officially incorporated, Sofia is ready to squeeze every drop of possibility from her big idea.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
During a family trip to Dallas last year, Sofia and I stumbled across a young girl running a makeshift lemonade stand at a local ball game. It was simple, authentic, and full of energy—the kind of moment that sparks a dream. That experience instantly inspired Sofia to start envisioning her own lemonade business, and together, we began laying the foundation for what is now Sofla Lemon Co.
Over the past year, Sofia has been deeply involved in building every part of her brand from the ground up. She brainstormed the name, created her brand suite, developed her logo and color palette, and even helped design a custom-built lemonade stand that reflects her bright, playful vision. We’ve partnered with commercial equipment suppliers and professional flavoring companies, ensuring that every cup of Sofla Lemon Co. lemonade offers a fresh, high-quality experience. Her menu features hand-squeezed lemons, bold infused flavors, and fun toppers like cotton candy and gummy bears—giving every customer a creative, unforgettable twist on a classic favorite.
What sets Sofla Lemon Co. apart is the heart behind it. This isn’t just another lemonade stand—it’s a symbol of youth entrepreneurship, creativity, and hard work. Sofia isn’t just selling lemonade; she’s creating an experience that brings joy to every customer, one cup at a time.
We’re most proud of the fact that this brand was built thoughtfully, intentionally, and with the kind of spirit that reminds people that big dreams often start small. Sofla Lemon Co. stands for fun, flavor, and fearless ambition.
For potential clients, fans, and future followers, we want them to know: when you support Sofla Lemon Co., you’re supporting a young entrepreneur who dreamed big, worked hard, and is ready to make a positive impact—with every squeeze, every smile, and every sip.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
One of the most rewarding parts of building Sofla Lemon Co. with Sofia has been watching her naturally step into a leadership role. As she prepares for her launch in May 2025, Sofia is already planning to “hire” a few of her close friends—kids who share her interest in business and entrepreneurship. She’s creating roles for them at events and stand locations, managing their schedules, and will even compensate them for their efforts. It’s incredible to see her not only thinking about how to grow her business, but also about how to create opportunities for her peers along the way.
As a mom, one of my biggest goals with this journey has been to foster an entrepreneurial spirit not just in Sofia, but in other young kids as well. I truly believe that when kids are exposed to business skills early—leadership, responsibility, creativity—they develop a confidence that stays with them for life. Through Sofla Lemon Co., we’re not just squeezing lemons—we’re helping spark the next generation of leaders, innovators, and dreamers.
Sofia’s approach reminds me daily that entrepreneurship isn’t just about building a business—it’s about building people.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I have learned a valuable lesson when working to get business funding that you have to be extremely careful in who you place your trust with and you can’t solely rely on others to lead you. You have to ensure that you’re taking the time to educate yourself and always stay involved.
Unfortunately, I have financially been taken advantage of in the past – a lesson that I learned very quickly and hope that others will be able to avoid the hardship I went through.
