We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Linda Ramos a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Linda , appreciate you joining us today. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry? Any stories or anecdotes that illustrate why this matters?
In the corporate world it is easy to get lost and become just another number when it comes to speed waxing. With rushed appointments and their focus on efficiency, up selling and pressuring clients to leave with wrong aftercare. Its no wonder independent small businesses get their horror stories told by many clients. In this intimate vulnerable world of Brazilian waxing forming relationship is extremely important. They forget that behind every appointment is a woman reclaiming her body for the first time, is a woman wanting to experience empowerment.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Linda Ramos, I was born and raised in East Los Angeles. The culture and soul of the city runs deep in my blood. I am who I am today because of my city. I started in the beauty industry doing freelance makeup and shortly after focusing on brow services. I had many jobs as a beauty advisor and truly love helping women feel confident in their skin. I was introduced to an Esthetician program through my very own wax lady! I was able to complete the program and take my State Board exam and become license. I kept perfecting my brow services and learned Brazilian waxing after getting licensed. Learning such an intimate service has completely changed my life. I had to learn how to make another woman comfortable with me in the first 2 minutes of introducing myself! I am so proud of the bonds I’ve formed with my girls! I am truly grateful for every connection I’ve made. Being completely independent now has given me the opportunity to create all natural products. I have created an aftercare line that truly works for all skin types. I take pride in making my clients feel confident in their own skin, reclaim their bodies and always put themselves first! What sets Que Linda Aesthetics apart is the experience of having a homegirl take care of all your waxing needs. It feels like hanging out with your homegirl who happens to be a pro at making you feel fabulous. It’s not just waxing — it’s catching up, therapy, a gentle reminder that you deserve to be pampered. I’m your number one hype girl, always ready to cheer you on. I just opened my very own storefront in Montebello! Que Linda Aesthetics is a safe space for everyone, a place where you walk out feeling confident, empowered, and ready to conquer. That’s my mission — to make sure every client leaves feeling like their best self.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
I started taking clients in 2020 at home, in my dinning room area. The pandemic made everyone close their doors. People started looking for people doing services at home. I started slowly building clientele. I started doing facials and brow services. Taking maybe at most two girls a week. When everything started to open back up I was offered a job at a waxing studio, commission based. With every self doubt I had i said yes to the offer. That was where my years of hustle and grind showed out the most. I was used to working, I’ve been working retail jobs since i was 16. Working my butt off is all I know. But this time it was different. This time I hustled for what I knew would be the career I wanted for the rest of my life. In that Waxing Studio I became Que Linda Aesthetics. Worked 4-5 days a week. Booked every client. Started posting more of my social media. Knew that who I am at my core is what will keep girls booking. I love that waxing studio so much. I developed discipline and focus. I made a lot of sacrifices but I always knew it was for the bigger picture. I remember going into work for one underarm wax when I started at that studio. $10 was my take home commission that day. Currently 5 years later, every one of my Saturdays I am completely booked.

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
When I decided to make aftercare products I really wanted an oil that can truly help keep your skin stay moisturized after waxing. I’ve always believed in timing. When I went completely independent I met my vendor. Her energy and love for making body care items was infectious. We bounced around the idea of making a Yoni Oil. We talked about the ingredients, a blend of oils and she gave me a sample of my very own Yoni oil. We tested it, used it for weeks. I gave samples of it to my clients and accepted any feedback. That Yoni oil paved the way for a Yoni Scrub, Yoni Wash and a lash and brow serum. Manufacturing products take so much time and work. We try out the products on ourselves, we have to change the packaging, sometimes design the perfect label. Trial and error. I never knew it takes months to perfect a product. The biggest lesson in this is patience, we don’t rush any of our ideas for products. We take months to find the perfect blend. I’ve poured my whole heart into each one of my products and I’m so proud to work with another passionate woman. We work well together and have formed a bond of excitement and stress!
