Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Linda Haley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Linda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Natural wellness therapies in general, and Reiki specifically, are not well understood in the MidWest. Most Americans would much rather follow the path of pharmaceuticals and surgery. I definitely understand this, as my background is traditional medical care. But when I got very sick in the late 1990’s, Western medicine made me far sicker. Reiki made me well.
Reiki is a technique for pain and stress reduction that is simple to learn and use, with deep roots in spiritual development of the self. It reportedly is currently integrated into 800 US Hospitals.
When I started my business, I was ridiculed and lost friends who thought I was crazy, I was becoming more intuitive and confirmed my craziness when I talked about seeing people who had crossed over.
It was difficult in the beginning. No clients and few practitioners with high expenses. But the gamble paid off and now, 20 years later, we offer 60+ modalities as the oldest and largest natural wellness center in Ohio.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Everything has an emotional component, so we provide answers, compassion and anxiety relief. We started with the basics: energy work and body work then gradually added other modalities, like intuitive Services, Sound Healing and Crystal Therapies. Clients will often come in for the Animal Wellness Therapies then come back for a service for themselves. Youth Services was just added recently to provide specialized support to children who have unique challenges. We just added two different kinds of Hypnotherapy.
Classes are the second pillar of our center. Our style of teaching Reiki is quite different than other centers, so it is not uncommon for people to come from throughout the country to take a Reiki class.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
COVID completely upended the wellness industry, since we could no longer have clients into the center.. After reopening, many clients were nervous about being touched.
Video conferencing was added for remote healing services and classes. Today Zoom is a primary way to connect with students and the community.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Most of our clients are critical of their experiences in the traditional medical field. Most believe that they are not listened to, that they are often not even looked at. I want to make sure that compassion is the number one response that a practitioner offers, then their skills.
