We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lincoln Bailey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lincoln below.
Hi Lincoln, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My name is Lincoln Bailey I am full time actor and model people in the industry often say you can’t make a living from acting my response is you are right with that mindset and attitude so I got a job at a assisted living facility and wanted to work as little as possible on the weekends due to Boredom then a resident grabs my hand and says I’m so glad you are here I can tell you actually care so I started working nights because if you did you got free rent in the basement so then I started coming in on my days off and I noticed they were lonely so I started taking them out to lunch out of my own pocket and started to write them letters and make tik tok videos with them and I call it letters from Lincoln a lot of the time it’s not a physical letter but it’s a love letter and it’s so nice to see them alert and happy
Lincoln, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a Full-time actor and model I actually like public speaking very passionate about helping people and I care about people success friendships have to be earned and not bought so a quote on the back of my business card says earn a new friend every day, cherish them for a lifetime friends will come and go, but those memories will never fade I grew up in foster care, and I have lost a lot of friends to drugs and alcohol and depression. It is not about how you start it in about how you finish. Your life isn’t about what happens to you it’s how you respond my birth mom left me at the hospital. I could have felt sorry for myself, but to make a difference and help people and put a little bit of light back into this dark world. I have Cerebral palsy, so I walk with a limp but I don’t let gnat stop me. I have a contagious smile and an inspirational work ethic I have walked in New York fashion week I have always wanted to play a cop on the rookie or I’ll settle on a guest star role
I got into acting by accident working at a calendar store in the mall when they were filming a Hallmark movie and I decided to be nosy and go figure out what was going on. They decided not to put me in the movie because I did not have my full Christmas wardrobe I ended up going to Juvie because I was a rebellious teenager when I got out of Juvie I needed money and I thought to myself that I could sell drugs because that’s what they did in Juvie but I decided that is not the Path i wanted to take and I was still getting emails for acting.
It hasn’t been Easy it has been quite the challenge make a path for myself and others like me because I don’t want people in similar situations to feel the pain that I felt trying to work in the film industry so I continue to persevere and knock down doors for other people
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me the awarding aspect of being an artist/public figure when people tell me I can’t do something when people tell me I’m not gonna get that part or tell me that I can’t play a certain role because I love proving people wrong. I love having the motivation and I get really motivated when people tell me I can’t do something. For example, when people tell me, I can’t walk the runway I prove them wrong and by doing that I prove myself right also I love when people come to me for advice, on how to get into the acting industry or how to deal with certain obstacles in their career because I love giving the best advice I can
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I feel like non creative struggle to understand in my journey is that it is constant work 24/ 365 I am ALWAYS auditioning how you act in your day-to-day life people notice what kind of person you are and how you treat people just have patience because I’ve lost a lot of “friends”due to the fact that I am always working I have a life I am living. I have a schedule I am maintaining. A name I am representing, and a reputation I am upholding
