Lin, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Pink Moon was born from a long journey of self discovery and rediscovery. Following a series of toxic relationships that took a toll on my overall well-being and after experiencing insomnia, depression, and other health issues I learned to embrace my heritage of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and incorporated Reiki, Aromatherapy, Crystals, and Astrology into my daily rituals. These practices and tools combined helped guide me back to a place of self-love and acceptance, empowerment, and joy.
Our mission is to spread the same joy and comfort I found in this life-changing ancient wisdom, while preserving the legacy of my ancestors. Our products make TCM and these other holistic modalities more accessible by translating them into tangible products so that anyone can incorporate mindful self-care rituals—based on time-honored practices—into their daily life.
Lin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a 2nd generation Taiwanese American and am also recently Reiki certified. I have a decade-long experience working in the holistic beauty and wellness industry. Through my career, I’ve been exposed to all the verticals and horizontals of the industry including brand & product development, sales, marketing & PR, operations, merchandising and so on.
I am passionate about holistic wellness because it has changed my life and helped me become healthier and stronger mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Pink Moon is a primarily self-funded business. I launched the company in the middle of the pandemic with my life savings and funded the company using internal capital / revenue profits. I also had another company in 2020-2022, a consultancy, that was helping to fund Pink Moon. In early 2022, I raised a small friends and family round to support growth and launch new products.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Authenticity, high quality products and customer service, and genuine care for customers all have contributed to our growth, returning customers, and made Pink Moon a press favorite. My industry experience has also helped to elevate the brand, as I’ve built a vast network for manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, and founders throughout my 10 years working in this sector.
