We were lucky to catch up with Lily Zubritskiy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lily, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
The idea for my photography business was born from one of the most tender and transformative seasons of my life. When my firstborn arrived, he had to stay in the NICU for three long months. Each day with him felt like a gift—precious and uncertain, with no promise of tomorrow. I held on tightly to every detail: the way his tiny fingers curled around mine, the quiet moments of connection, the fierce love that filled even the hardest days.
I found myself reaching for my camera, not just to document, but to remember—to preserve the beauty in the midst of fragility. That experience changed everything. I realized how vital it is to capture life as it truly is—raw, sacred, and full of meaning.
From there, my passion grew. What began as a personal need became a calling to serve others—to give families and couples what I so desperately needed in that NICU: tangible reminders of love, hope, and connection. I knew this was more than just a creative outlet—it was a way to honor life’s most fleeting, important moments.
I believed I could succeed because this business wasn’t built on trends or surface-level beauty—it was built on heart, intention, and purpose. I leaned into my style—timeless, romantic, cinematic, and emotion-rich—knowing that what I was offering wasn’t just photos, but heirlooms. And every time I see a client moved to tears by their gallery, I’m reminded that this journey, born from both pain and love, was absolutely worth pursuing.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi there! I’m Lily Zubritskiy, the heart behind Lily Sky Photography—a brand rooted in storytelling, emotion, and intentionality. I’m a photographer and visual storyteller, creating timeless, romantic, and cinematic images that honor both the beauty and the feeling of your most meaningful moments.
My journey into photography began during one of the most vulnerable seasons of my life. When my firstborn arrived early, he spent three months in the NICU. Each day was a mix of love and uncertainty—with no guarantee of tomorrow. During that time, I clung to every tiny, fleeting moment. I began documenting them—not just for memory’s sake, but as a way of preserving the love and hope that carried us through. That experience shifted something deep within me. I realized how powerful photography can be when it’s rooted in intention and emotion, not just aesthetics.
That’s the heartbeat of my business: capturing moments that are real, sacred, and lasting. I specialize in weddings, lifestyle sessions, and editorial portraiture—creating work that is both emotion-rich and artfully refined. Whether it’s a couple exchanging vows, a family welcoming a newborn, or someone simply wanting to be seen in their truest light, I’m here to tell your story with grace and authenticity.
My style is often described as timeless, romantic, and cinematic, with an editorial touch that still feels organic and personal. I blend a documentary approach with intentional direction, so every image feels honest yet elevated—like a scene from a beautiful film where you’re the main character.
What sets me apart? I care deeply—not just about how the photos look, but how they feel. I don’t rush. I don’t shoot to check boxes. I approach every session with heart and purpose, creating a calm, safe space where your real connection can shine. I want you to feel something when you look at your gallery—not just now, but decades from now.
What means the most to me is witnessing how my work allows people to truly feel their story—sometimes for the first time. When clients view their gallery and pause, overwhelmed with emotion or surprise—those are the moments that matter. The quiet joy, the teary smiles, the realization that this is us—that’s the true reward.
Photography is so much more than taking pretty pictures. It’s about being trusted with someone’s most meaningful memories. I’m honored every time I’m invited into those sacred spaces—whether it’s a wedding day, a growing family, or a quiet, ordinary moment that holds extraordinary love.
If you’re a bride—or someone who treasures the real, unscripted beauty of life—and you’re drawn to images that are both artistic and deeply meaningful, you’re in the right place. I create photographs that are timeless and full of soul—capturing genuine moments with an intentional, creative eye. If you want your memories to feel as beautiful decades from now as they do today, I’d be honored to tell your story.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes—my creative journey is deeply rooted in a desire to preserve the moments that matter most, in a way that feels both honest and artful. My mission is to capture images that not only reflect how things looked, but how they felt—because those emotions, those fleeting connections, are what truly last.
I’m driven by a passion to tell real stories with timeless beauty and intentionality. Whether I’m documenting a wedding, a new life, or a quiet everyday moment, my goal is to create meaningful imagery that my clients can return to for decades—something that brings them back to the love, joy, and depth of that season in their lives.
Ultimately, I want my work to serve as a reminder that your story is worth remembering—exactly as it is.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding part of being an artist is the ability to give people something they didn’t even know they needed —a way to see and feel their story from the outside in. It’s incredibly humbling to witness the emotion that unfolds when someone sees themselves reflected through my lens with honesty, beauty, and depth.
There’s something powerful about capturing a moment that might have otherwise gone unnoticed—the quiet in-betweens, the unscripted laughter, the tearful glances. Knowing that my work becomes part of someone’s legacy, part of what they’ll pass down or look back on during life’s milestones—that’s what fuels me.
At its core, the most fulfilling part of this creative life is connection: the trust people place in me, the stories I get to honor, and the art we create together that lasts far beyond the moment.
