We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lily Vera. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lily below.
Alright, Lily thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar your firm earns is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
My first client that wasn’t a friend or friend of a friend was directly from my website. I got an inquiry on my site to build a site for a client that had an established business but just no web presence whatsoever. We met and saw how well aligned we both were with the vision, strategy and aesthetic of the website and the rest is history. As a small business owner it’s important to align with the business and not force anything just to make a profit. I pride myself in being able to relay this in a positive way to all of my clients.
Lily, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I went to undergrad school for marketing here in miami, although I got into management I always had a love for marketing. I started designing e-learnings for my “daytime job” and loved to get into the design of things. I’ve always been a fan of operations, understanding how businesses make money is extremely important to me. So when thinking of what kind of business I wanted to build, I thought of merging business and design and came up with a web design company. We started off designing everything from logos, to flyers to sites. I now have tailored down my services to web design services. If our client needs branding we also will include it. We concentrate on building a strategy to help solve practical day today day business issues so the client and business have smoother transactions, giving the business more free time and the client a seamless buying experience. What we are most proud of is our collaboration with local companies, there’s enough for all of us and there’s nothing better than sharing business with other businesses. I have partners in photography, printing, copywriting etc. We are also a Latina owned business, I hope this encourages other women regardless of race to own a little piece of their own pie.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
For my business this has been word of mouth. I prefer having someone that had such an amazing experience with us that allowed them to promote us and have someone else have this great experience. When working with the public regardless of industry their business is in, it can get tricky, so the relationship has to be right for the client as well for us as a business.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Follow up is extremely important and my clients know I am available to them whenever they need. Even after projects are completed I like to see how the strategy is going and make sure that if they need any further strategizing or consulting we are here to help.
