Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lily Quinn-Hendrick. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lily, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
My legal name is a huge melting pot of family names. I knew I would change my name quite a bit when I got married, so I wanted a way to keep my family names and honor my loved ones. I made the business name El Events (pronounced like the letter “L), which are my initials, but also the name of my late grandfather. It felt like a nice way to honor my family while making them proud.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a wedding planner and coordinator. I accidentally found my passion when I offered to coordinate a friend’s wedding as a gift to her! I enjoyed it so much and started coordinating for friends, then friends of friends, and after a lot of encouragement, I finally went more public, creating social media accounts to promote myself. I think the main problem I solve for my clients is making sure they have what they want on their wedding days. My main focus is to be the voice for my clients, advocate for them, and make sure we deliver a seamless experience. The main thing that sets us apart is that we have fun while we work. I try not to take myself too seriously and make sure the other vendors working with us know they can approach us and know we’re working together!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Word of mouth definitely helped me build my reputation in the wedding industry! I still think no matter how wonderful you are at marketing, social media, or your job, the best referrals are previous clients or people who have seen your work in action.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Treat your employees like you would want to be treated! I like to invest in the girls who work for me. Making sure they are heard when they have ideas, encouraging them to grow, and helping them pursue other endeavors they pursue.
