We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lily a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lily, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Recently, my idol group have been working on an original song, RACKETBALL.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am part of an idol group, Aqu♡rius Encore Project. We are a singing and dancing jpop-inspired group who wants to spread idol culture throughout the region, I am the Rosy Pink Princess Idol.
We go to different anime conventions and events throughout Southern California, to perform various songs from different idols. We usually perform at Anime Los Angeles, Anime Impulse, etc.
Recently, we released an original song called, RACKETBALL. It is now available on Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Music! It was a dream of mine to make my own song. I always remember how I would try to make lyrics as a little kid or even perform in the kitchen. It was such a dream come true having that come to life!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an idol is being able to interact and inspire others. I love to hear how people felt after our performances. One particular song I performed was about being a princess and I was handing out princess crowns in the audience. A few months later, someone came up to me after another performance and told me how they treasured the crown I gave them. They also told me that it was actually their birthday when I gave them the crown! They felt very grateful for it and told me they would always support us. I felt so happy at the moment because I made such an impactful moment in their life.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Before I became an idol, I was a cosplayer who posted a lot of dance covers from Love Live!, an idol/anime group. I posted on my Instagram and Youtube and interacted with other cosplayers and dancers in the community. I went to different meet-ups and started collabing with other dancers, as well. Soon after, I created a community online dance cover competition and I think that is also where I found others! Soon enough, other people online wanted to meet up and do dance covers, or cosplay in a group. I think the most important thing is to put yourself out there and don’t be afraid with what you post. If you show your passion and love through your post, others are going to see that and want more.
