We were lucky to catch up with Liliana Oliveira recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Liliana , thanks for joining us today. What’s something crazy on unexpected that’s happened to you or your business
One of the craziest things that happened in my business was with a client who came to me in panic. His landing page was painfully slow, and the ads he was running weren’t converting. He told me : “I’ve talked with many people and no one can solve me this.”..
I ran an audit and found several performance and security issues that had been completely overlooked. After optimizing the page and implementing best practices, the performance score jumped from 40 to 95, and his campaign started bringing in real results. He was genuinely thankful, and I thought I had just won a long-term client. Someone who finally understood the value of proper technical work.
A few weeks later, he reached out again for a new landing page. I sent him a quote that reflected the quality and results I had already delivered. His response was, ‘Sorry, I found people who charge less.’
I didn’t say anything and wished him well. But sometime later, I checked the new page out of curiosity, and just as I expected, the performance had dropped significantly. When performance and security aren’t part of the process, it always ends up costing more in the long run.
That experience taught me something important. Even when you deliver real results, some people will still choose based on price. But the clients who understand the difference are the ones I choose to build with.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Im a Web Designer and WordPress Security Specialist with a background in Computer Engineering. Over the years, I noticed that many websites looked good on the outside but failed in performance, structure, and security. That’s what led me to do things differently.
I founded OliveVirtual to bring together strategy, design, and tech. At OliveVirtual, we help entrepreneurs grow online through custom WordPress websites, branding, content creation, and ongoing maintenance. We build fast, secure websites that not only look great but are prepared to support real business growth. We also make sure our clients feel supported every step of the way, without tech overwhelm or unexpected issues.
One of our strongest points as a company is client communication. Our clients always know what is expected from them, what to expect from us, and exactly where we are in the process. They love our client portal, where they can follow everything in real time.
In addition to our work with entrepreneurs and small businesses, we’re also building VirtualKoders focused on tech education for children. With experience teaching IT to kids, we’re now developing digital resources to introduce them to programming and digital tools in a fun and accessible way.
What sets us apart is how we combine technical expertise with clear communication and strategic thinking. We focus on solving the problems others often miss and building digital foundations that truly work.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the hardest lessons I had to unlearn was thinking that being helpful meant saying yes to everything. In the beginning, I wanted to prove my value, so I accepted rushed timelines, vague briefs, constant changes, and even projects that didn’t feel aligned. I thought that being flexible would make clients trust me more.
But instead, I ended up drained. Projects lost direction, communication got messy, and I often felt like I was doing too much for too little in return.
With time, I had to let go of that need to please and start setting clear boundaries. Today at OliveVirtual, we have a process that gives clarity to everyone involved. Clients know what to expect and when, and we both know what’s needed at each stage. That structure actually builds more trust — not less.
Of course, it’s still hard sometimes. I care deeply about the people I work with, and I always want to help. But I’ve learned to pause, breathe, and stay focused on what really matters: doing great work, with purpose, without losing myself along the way.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
After a project is complete, we stay in touch through ongoing maintenance, performance monitoring, and support when needed. Many clients choose to continue with us on a monthly plan, where we take care of updates, backups, and small improvements so they don’t have to worry about the technical side.
Even those who don’t stay on a plan know they can reach out. We make sure they feel supported long after the site goes live, and we’re often the first people they think of when something needs to be updated or improved.
Referrals are also a big part of how we stay connected. A lot of our past clients send us messages saying they have a friend, colleague or acquaintance who needs a website and ask if we can help. That kind of trust means a lot.
We also like to check in occasionally and send out a simple message at the start of the year to reconnect. It’s not about pushing new offers — it’s just a reminder that we’re here, and that we care about the relationship, not just the project.
