We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lilian Melchert a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lilian thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
Yes, many times. People have tried to box me into one version of myself, either the playful girl doing trends or the “too spiritual” one manifesting dreams out loud. But the truth is, I’ve always lived in between worlds. I create from intuition, but I move with strategy. And that duality can be hard for others to label, which is exactly why it works. I’ve learned that being misunderstood isn’t a flaw. It’s often the side effect of being multidimensional. I’d rather be felt deeply by the right people than be fully understood by everyone.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Lilian Melchert, a Brazilian creator, storyteller, comedian, and Author of a bestselling book based in Los Angeles. I started making videos as a teenager with a borrowed camera and a lot of curiosity. At first, it was just about experimenting and connecting with people online. But over time, it became something much bigger, a way to turn personal transformation into art, community, and impact.
My work weaves content creation, storytelling, and energy work. I create experiences through videos, books, brand collaborations, and soon, immersive spaces that help people feel something real. Whether it’s a video that shifts your perspective, a YouTube video that reminds you of your power, or a simple quote that stays with you all day… my work is about awakening something in people.
I’ve built a global audience of over 9 million followers, but what I’m most proud of is how I’ve done it: by staying true to my evolution. I’m not interested in being just another “influencer.” I’m here to shift narratives, invite people into new timelines, and remind them they’re allowed to evolve endlessly.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Yes! I think one of the hardest things for non-creatives to understand is that this path doesn’t come with a map. There’s no linear progression, no guaranteed outcome, and a lot of what we create starts from a feeling, not a formula.
As a creative, you’re constantly holding the tension between vision and reality: You might be building something powerful with no external proof yet and still have to show up, share, and trust your timing. That can look like inconsistency or delusion from the outside, but inside, it’s often deep alignment.
I’ve learned that creativity is less about talent and more about courage. Courage to start before you’re ready. To keep going when no one’s clapping. And to pivot when your soul evolves, even if your audience doesn’t catch up right away.
So if you’ve ever judged a creator for being “all over the place,” just know: they might be in the middle of building something extraordinary you just can’t see yet

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lesson I had to unlearn was that I need to earn my worth through performance. For a long time, I thought if I didn’t “do enough”, if the video didn’t go viral, if the campaign didn’t convert, if the energy wasn’t always high, then I didn’t deserve more. More opportunities, more love, more rest.
That belief came from years of being praised for my productivity and resilience, even in survival mode. It made me think my power came from how much I could handle, not from who I am when I’m simply present and aligned.
Like many creatives, I built my career on self-belief. But somewhere along the way, I started thinking I had to prove myself constantly to maintain that success. I had to unlearn that pressure. Now, I remind myself daily: my presence is enough. I don’t need to bleed to be brilliant.
