Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lilia & Bruno. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lilia & Bruno, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
Yes, we have been able to earn a living from our creative work. After founding the rock band Karkaza and experiencing many years of success, we felt called to express our Christian faith through music, so we formed this acoustic duo in 2016. Every song reflects our gratitude and faith in God, and we believe that our authenticity has allowed us to enjoy prosperous careers as professional musicians. Our audience connects with the sincere message we give in every song, and that has allowed us to build a solid fanbase around the world.
We also run a music school and a mental health awareness brand. This combination of teaching, performing, recording, and spreading mental health awareness has allowed us to make a living from our creative work.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Following a successful career as founders of the rock band Karkaza, we had a desire to express our faith in God through music, creating this acoustic duo, Lilia & Bruno. We have been playing music together since 2016, and our chemistry shows through in everything we create. Both of us love to explore diverse musical styles, and our multitude of influences shows in our work. Our style is a combination of classical technique, country rhythms, gospel harmonies, and raw emotional expression. Every song is a testament to our faith in God and how thankful we are for having the gift of music in our lives. We are currently based in Montgomery, Alabama. We released our first EP, Worship Songs Volume 1, in Christmas 2023 and will move forward with this project for many years to come!
What sets us apart from other musicians is the fact that we stay authentic to our message, purpose, and musical style. Too often, artists feel pressured to conform to trends. But we stay true to ourselves, and our audience respects that about us. We also run a music lesson studio, Suncho School of Music, where we often teach our own original songs to our students. While many music studios hold recitals, very few music instructors can say that their students will cover their original songs at those recitals! And because we are passionate about inspiring creative expression in others, we also teach songwriting to our students.
Overall, our passion, authenticity, creativity, and dedication shine through in everything we do!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being artist-entrepreneurs as the fact that we can inspire others to do what they love. It feels amazing when someone watching our live shows tells us that we inspired them to start their own band, write their own music, and get out there to perform. Furthermore, several of our music students have told us that we inspired them to want to become music teachers when they grow up, and it’s so rewarding to hear that!
And because every song of ours has a message, many of our fans have told us that our music inspired them to strengthen their faith in God, consider going to church, or hold a more optimistic outlook on life. We are proud to write positive songs that help people get through hard times, and we love hearing our listeners tell us about how our music has helped them see the light at the end of the tunnel!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Our advice to anyone who wants to build a social media presence is, first off, to decide which platforms you will use. Our duo, Lilia & Bruno, is on all the major social platforms- Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, X, and Youtube. We strongly recommend creating profiles on each of those outlets, because that’s the simplest way for people to discover your work. You could also consider some of the smaller, newer platforms, such as Blue Sky, Mastodon, or Threads, but those are not as essential as the large, tried-and-true social media platforms.
Our next word of advice is to make a social media schedule and stick to it. We dedicate a certain day of the week to post for Lilia & Bruno, our band Karkaza, and our music studio. We have a different day of the week to post for each of those brands. After we post, me make sure to share our posts to as many groups as you can. So join Facebook groups that are relevant to your business, because those are a valuable source of promotion.
We also advise you to make sure that your social media schedule is sustainable. Too often, entrepreneurs will overwhelm themselves with trying to do too much, too fast, and get burned out a. This will leave you feeling burned out, frustrated, and discouraged. So make sure all your promotional efforts are sustainable.
Lastly, create the type of content that you enjoy. Don’t create content you dislike in an effort to follow trends, because your audience can detect a lack of authenticity. Stay true to yourself, stay consistent, and you will attract a loyal fanbase!
