We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lilia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lilia below.
Lilia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
One of the things I do differently from the industry standard is that I intentionally blend analog and digital techniques in my photography and videography to create work that feels timeless, soulful, and deeply human. In an industry that often prioritizes speed, trends, and overly polished perfection, I slow down and focus on storytelling, emotion, and authenticity.
I shoot a lot on 35mm film and Super 8, which brings a rawness and imperfection that digital alone can’t replicate. I believe that sometimes the most beautiful moments are the unplanned ones—the slightly blurred photo, the imperfect lighting, the grain that gives texture to memory. My brand is about capturing feeling, not just visuals.
Through Lilia is Lilith, I aim to create art, not just content. My work is for people who want to feel something when they see an image, not just scroll past it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Lilia, and I’m the creative mind behind Lilia is Lilith, where I work as a photographer, videographer, and visual storyteller. I’m from Cd. Juárez, Mexico, and I split my time between Austin, Texas, and Mexico City, but my work often takes me to new places both physically and creatively. I specialize in capturing authentic moments with an emotional depth that makes people feel something, whether it’s through still images or moving visuals.
My journey into this creative world wasn’t something I planned it was something that unfolded naturally, almost by accident, and largely because someone saw something in me before I fully saw it in myself. That person was Vanessa Zamora, an artist and musician whose belief in me changed the course of my life. Vanessa was the first person to truly pull me into this industry. She saw my eye, my perspective, and the way I captured moments, and she encouraged me to step into the role of a visual storyteller professionally. Her trust in my vision gave me the confidence to take risks, to explore my artistic voice, and to pursue this path with heart.
That moment taught me something I carry into every project: the importance of believing in people’s potential and creating from a place of authenticity. It’s not just about the technical aspects of photography or video, it’s about the relationships, the trust, and the emotional honesty that happens when someone invites you to help tell their story.
The services I offer include creative direction, photography, videography, and content creation for artists, musicians, brands, and individuals who want visuals that go beyond trends. I often shoot on 35mm film and Super 8, blending analog textures with modern storytelling to create work that feels timeless and emotionally resonant. From music videos to album covers to brand campaigns and intimate portraits, I help my clients express who they are at their core.
One of the biggest problems I help solve is the challenge of standing out authentically in an industry obsessed with perfection and performance. I help my clients strip back the noise, find their true voice, and express it visually in a way that feels raw, vulnerable, and real. I work closely with each person or brand to bring their vision to life while adding my signature cinematic, soulful touch.
What sets me apart is my commitment to creating with intention, emotion, and artistic integrity. I’m most proud when my work connects with people on a deeper level. When it’s not just about how something looks, but about how it makes you feel. I’m especially proud of the collaborations that have blossomed into friendships, and of the moments where my clients have seen themselves reflected in my work in ways they never had before.
For anyone discovering Lilia is Lilith for the first time, I want them to know that everything I create is born from a place of heart. My work is for those who value story, magic, and authenticity for those who believe that art should move you, linger with you, and tell the truth of who you are.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to make people feel something real to capture moments, emotions, and stories that connect on a deeper level. I’m drawn to the raw, imperfect, and intimate side of life, and through my work, I get to give those fleeting moments a permanent home.
There’s something incredibly powerful about witnessing someone see themselves in a new light through my lens, or about creating visuals that spark nostalgia, joy, or even healing. Knowing that my work can move people whether it’s making them pause, reflect, or feel seen, is what drives me.
It’s also deeply rewarding to know that I’m honoring my own voice and vision, especially in an industry that often pushes trends over authenticity. Every time I pick up a camera, I’m reminded that storytelling has the power to transcend language, borders, and time. That’s the magic of being a creative and that’s what keeps me inspired.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Before the pandemic, I was running a small cold-pressed juice business. It was something I enjoyed, but when the world came to a standstill, like many people, I found myself reevaluating my path. During that time, I began DJing as a creative outlet it was a way for me to express myself and stay connected to community and music.
That experience opened the door to the creative world, and it was through that journey that I discovered my true passion: visual storytelling through photography and video. It was a complete pivot from where I started, but I believe every step making juice, playing music, exploring different forms of creativity helped shape the artist I am today.
Sometimes life forces us to pivot, but I’ve learned that those unexpected turns often lead us closer to who we’re meant to be.
