We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lili Wilson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lili below.
Alright, Lili thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The mission of the Beautiful Dawn, LLC and my passion is to motivate and inspire people to live empowered lives of freedom. Within the platform, is The LOVE Diet, which encourages 100% percent self-love and 100% authenticity. It is meaningful to live authentically and love oneself in a world that promotes mindsets that are status quo and almost force us into showing up in a particular way and ascribing to societal or communal normatives. This is particularly important to me, as there are various things that are authentic to me that are also contradictory or might appear so to others… for instance, just to have the words, preacher/preacher’s kid, intuitive/medium, single mom, and yogi in my bio might seem controversial to others. However, being able to show up as self, without permission… That is what brings me joy and brings me peace. Many times, who we are in totality is in conflict i.e. who we are in our professional world, and who we are as creatives… How we were brought up versus how we want to live our lives moving forward,… Religious/traditional foundation versus how we are evolving… Also, who we have been and who people expect us to be versus how we are growing and evolving… showing up as my authentic self and creating space for others to do the same, is my mission.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a DC native, born into a family that led and is leading a powerful ministry that uplifts Afrocentric values, and universal spiritual principles. I was always empowered in terms of who I was in Christ, and who I was as a daughter of the African diaspora. I’ve always felt and had a foundation of strength, As a descendent of preachers, healers, teachers, and counselors. so, ministry has always been a part of me… I just extended it beyond the four walls of church. In addition,, there was also an undercurrent of people pleasing and perfectionism, yielding a wounded healer experience in my upbringing. After being in ministry, since I was a teenager and wrestling with identity and acceptance, my pregnancy and my mid 30s rocked my very foundation. In hindsight, I realized that my daughter begin to give birth to me. I had to let go of all of the perfectionism and people pleasing because I had a visible representation of imperfection, and decided that how I felt inside was more important than how people perceived me.
I begin practicing yoga and connected more with myself. I began to tap more into the spiritual healing modalities that my mom made me aware of. I had not fully embraced these gifts because mediumship, card reading, and other gifts were in contrast with my Christian base, even though it was more universal than most. I made a conscious decision to love and care for myself in a way that I’ve never explored before. I started the Love diet books/processes as a way to empower myself, and I released them to the world so that others can experience the freedom and emancipation that I had. I received my certification and children’s yoga, and eventually my 200 yoga training hours.
The problem that I solve for my clients is providing safe space for healing and exploration, empowering talks, motivational music, and mindfulness and yoga. I offer one-on-one consultations for those who want to bridge their traditional religious beliefs with new explorations. I offer readings/one-on-ones for those who are struggling with self-acceptance and for those who are navigating love and relationships. In the morning on instagram, I offer “15 minutes of Freedom,” a safe space to explore various topics in freedom and empowerment. I offer free yoga classes in inner-city Washington, DC, providing the opportunity for focus and connection with self.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist/creative/intuitive is that I get to be my authentic self at all times. There is not a lot of code switching, or doing things just to make a sale… Literally, opportunities come in my direction as well as prosperity just because I am my authentic self. Being able to look in the mirror without feeling like I’m selling out, is the most rewarding. Even if I feel like I need to stand alone for a moment. I always find my tribe, they always find me, as well as lucrative opportunities ..

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What does help me build my reputation within my market is consistency, as well as authenticity… When people find someone that lives what they preach or teach… And when they feel like that person is the same no matter what… It builds trust. It’s also important to bring people along on the journey with you, and approach situations with curiosity. For me, my reputation is strong because I am not seeking to be the only expert/100% accurate, but that is what creates the foundation for accuracy and stability.
