We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lila Lopez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lila below.
Lila , appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The first time I realized I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally was a moment filled with both excitement and uncertainty. Doubts and uncertainty are a constant part of life, especially when making big decisions, but I’ve learned that it’s all about balancing dreams and reality. For me, it came down to believing that with discipline and passion, you can create the life you envision.
I had always been connected to the art community, building relationships, collaborating with others, and supporting fellow artists. That sense of connection kept me inspired and motivated. And I met Jayda Knight and she offered me the opportunity to have my first studio. Thanks to the generosity of a business developer, I can afford to pay. It felt like a turning point. This wasn’t just a hobby anymore I was doing in my living room; it was something I wanted to dedicate myself to professionally. Standing in that space, surrounded by the possibilities it held, I knew I was ready to turn my dream into a realty.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
“I am a multimedia artist from Nicaragua, and since moving to Miami, I’ve felt that the city has the vibrant flavor and color I was searching for to inspire and connect with others who share my passion. My journey began with taking art classes, which helped me immerse myself in the art community and collaborate with other creatives. These experiences not only fueled my creativity but also opened doors to new opportunities.
Recently, I’ve been expanding my skills by participating in workshops focused on art and technology, as well as continuing my education in graphic design, animation, and 3D modeling. This ongoing learning allows me to develop my work further, combining traditional and digital techniques to create deeper, more immersive artistic experiences.
As part of my professional development and growth, I have participated in various group exhibitions, gaining valuable opportunities to showcase my work in vanes such as Peekaboo Studios, Oolite Arts, Hotel Hilton, Art Ovation Hotel, Solo exhibition at Intercontinental Hotel and participate in various art fairs, such as Fair Clandestine, Fridge Fair Miami- New York and Doral art fair.
Beyond my visual art, I’ve also launched a clothing brand inspired by my artistic vision, featuring women’s merchandise that reflects my unique style.
In addition, I recently published my first e-book, which shares my pescatarian diet I’ve been practicing for many years as I wanted to share my simple, healthy recipes with those who want to make some change in their life. all available on my website.
I also provide graphic design services to help others elevate their businesses, brand, or bring their creative ideas to life. I believe that everything I’ve learned over the years has not only shaped me as an artist but also empowered me to support others in pursuing their visions.”

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In my view, society can best support artists and a thriving creative ecosystem by fostering accessibility, connection, and purchasing artwork.
Accessibility means creating more opportunities for artists to showcase their work, whether through affordable studio spaces, public art programs, or grants that make it possible for creatives from all backgrounds to pursue their passion without financial barriers.
As a local artist, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to actively support each other. Simply attending exhibitions, sharing artwork on social media, or purchasing a piece of art can make a significant difference. Our income and the ability to sustain our creative businesses depend on selling our work, and those acts of support go a long way in keeping the art community vibrant and thriving.
Connection is also vital. Building strong networks between artists, organizations, and the community encourages collaboration and opens doors to opportunities. This includes promoting local art events, creating mentorship programs, and providing platforms where creatives can share their stories and work.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Since coming to the United States, I’ve faced many challenges, including learning a new language, limited finances, work, legal hurdles, and the emotional strain of family separation—experiences that many migrants can relate to.. One of the hardest parts for me has been being away from my family for so many years and missing out on important life events, the fact of not being able to go see them is hard for me and missing memorable moments with them.
Despite this, I’ve worked hard and remained focused, believing that all these sacrifices will be worth it when the time comes for us to reunite. This journey has taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of making every step count toward building a better future for myself and my loved ones.
