Lil, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It takes a lot to be successful, a lot of countless long nights either sitting in the studio or at work trying to make something out of nothing , there’s going to be a lot of times where you fail and you’re going to feel like giving up but don’t give up , wether it’s a goal you’re trying to reach or wether it’s your dream , I would say you should never give up cause you never know when it’s going to be your lucky day. If I never kept going writing songs and making music I probably wouldn’t be where I’m at right now having this interview with y’all everything takes time and things are going to come to you when the universe feels like you are ready to take on that new challenge.
Lil, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
In case y’all haven’t heard about me or know me let me introduce myself , I go by Lil Hendrix I’m from South Dallas, and I’m a songwriter/rapper , I first started writing songs and rapping at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 that’s when I dropped my first album called “Luv N Loyalty” which then proceeded to earn me 50k streams my first year rapping. To be in this type of work it takes a lot of patience and dedication there’s going to be times where you feel like nothing is going your way and you’re going to feel like giving up but don’t let it hold you back from what you can become. My favorite thing to do though and that I offer is I love writing songs wether it’s for me or for someone else I understand what the listeners want and how they want to feel when they listen to your music that’s one thing I always been good at and that’s being able to feel what the singer or rapper is trying to portray through their music. One thing I feel that sets me apart from other people in my field is that I don’t like chasing a trend or doing something that’s popular for likes I’d rather grind my way up with a steady naturally growth of fans instead of blowing up for one song and then potentially falling off . Some things I’m proud of that I’ve accomplished during this time is earning 260k+ streams and counting I never thought I would ever even reach 100k streams and now I’m at 260k streams about to hit 300k and I sometimes just sit there like “wow I really did this” , but one thing I want my fans to know about me is that I’m a cool person if you ever see me out and about in the city don’t be scared to say hi or come to me to take a picture cause I’ll never deny my fans or look the other way because without y’all I wouldn’t be here.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I love this question because I’ve lost many social media accounts and I always seem to find my fans again or I always seem to recover the majority of my fans when I have to create a new Instagram , but recently I’ve had my 7k page disabled by Instagram so I had to start a new Instagram the beginning of the year which I currently have 1.6k followers on it’s been relatively easy to gain followers on Instagram through their new feature called reels is the same thing as Tik Tok if y’all know what that is but by uploading short clips of wether my music or something random I’ve been able to build my fan base back up through that feature so for anybody starting up their social media make sure to take advantage of new features because they help you gain more impressions on and more profile visits to your social media account.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My most effective strategy for growing my clientele or fanbase is just going out , wether it’s to a club, bar , or to a party or just taking a walk downtown, I always seem to meet new people with similar interests in the music industry , it’s relatively easy for me to introduce new people to my sound especially when it’s at a party cause everyone is having a great time in a great atmosphere.
