We were lucky to catch up with Lighter Travels recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lighter, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
A few years ago, on a New Year’s trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, we were standing in line to buy tickets for an attraction called Anakeesta. We were on a tight budget, and as we waited, a man in front of us turned around and asked how many were in our party. When we told him “two,” he handed us two tickets, explaining that a couple of his family members weren’t going to make it and he didn’t want them to go to waste. We offered to pay, but he kindly refused. Thanks to his generosity, we spent one of the most memorable days on the mountain, watching the final sunset of the year. It was a simple gesture, but sometimes it’s those small acts of kindness that stay with you the longest.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We’re Bethsy and Priscilla— sisters who travel the world and together we run Lighter Travels. What started as us simply sharing our own adventures has grown into a space where we tell honest travel stories, highlight hidden gems, and inspire others to explore.
It all began pretty naturally—friends and family were always asking us for tips, recommendations, and those little details that make a trip special. Over time, that turned into working with hotels and restaurants to create reels, photography, and social content that bring their stories to life.
What makes us different is that we show both sides of travel—the big, unforgettable moments and the small, everyday ones that make it feel personal and doable.
At the end of the day, we’re most proud of the community we’ve built and the trust we’ve earned. For us, Lighter Travels is about more than just pictures—it’s about meaningful storytelling, helping people discover new experiences, and giving brands a chance to shine in an authentic way.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One time, our flight got canceled last minute, and instead of letting it ruin the trip, we had to think on our feet. We walked across the street to grab a hotel room for the night, found a car rental that wouldn’t charge a crazy fee for dropping it off in another city, and then drove all the way to Charlotte. Somewhere along the way we even picked up an accidental speeding ticket—but we made it home, and in the end, it all worked out.
In the moment it was stressful—changing plans on the fly, reworking our schedule, and dealing with the unexpected. But it reminded us why resilience matters so much in both travel and content creation. Things don’t always go according to plan, but there’s usually another way forward if you’re willing to adapt.
For us, resilience means staying true to our vision, finding solutions when things go sideways, and remembering that growth takes time. That mindset has shaped Lighter Travels into something we’re proud of—and it keeps us pushing forward no matter the obstacles.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A big lesson we’ve had to unlearn is the idea that you always need a perfect plan—and that once you make one, you have to stick to it no matter what. Travel has taught us over and over that things don’t always work out that way. Flights get delayed, weather changes, schedules shift. If you’re rigid, you end up frustrated or even miserable.
We’ve learned that flexibility is everything. Some of our best memories have come from moments when the original plan fell apart and we had to pivot. Letting go of the need for everything to go exactly as expected has made both travel—and content creation—so much more enjoyable.
