Libra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?

Every hope I’ve had, dream I’ve dreamed, and goal I’ve set required I push through many fears, doubts, and challenges. Some of those hopes were realized, some dreams came true, and some goals were met, but many were not. My story is not finished but the legacy I hope to build and be remembered for, is one of courage and perseverance in the face of adversity, and grace and kindness toward all those I encountered along the way.

Libra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My interest in organizing began many years ago out of the desire to create efficiency in my own closet, and as a result make it more beautiful. Necessity truly being the mother of invention, I found myself standing in my own closet in need of a solution. Moments later I grabbed two wire hangers (from the dry cleaner), swooped up the bottom of my long dress and clipped the hangers together. And just like that … SWOOP™ Hanger was born!

SWOOP™ | The Original Transition Hanger, is a patented hanger design that transitions the length of long garments to Maximize Closet Storage, Protect Garments and Streamline Travel. Closet space is THE real estate within our real estate and most never have enough so, many go with little or no “long hang” storage to truly maximize their space. Well now with SWOOP™ Hanger casual maxi-dresses, maxi-skirts, special occasion, bridal and prom dresses, AND jumpsuits all fit on upper racks, lower racks, and all those closet system compartments! SWOOP™ Hanger is a game-changer for small space living, and for all those who want to use their space, smarter.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

I completely bootstrapped the launch of SWOOP Hanger in 2022. Like many small minority-owned start-ups I too was not able to secure traditional funding, so determined early on that I would need to invest personal savings. Today we are reinvesting all revenue to grow the business.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

Prior to launching SWOOP™ Hanger the plan was to license the intellectual property. We secured a licensee and were in the midst of contract negotiations when Covid hit. The licensee’s headquarters was in New York, but the factory was in China, so all operations ceased. As a result, contract negotiations were put on hold indefinitely. After much thought I determined we were missing an opportunity, as the world was now home and more focused than ever on creating efficient, organized, multi-purpose spaces. So I made the decision to pivot; to manufacture SWOOP™ Hanger and get it to market during the pandemic.
