Today we’d like to introduce you to Lianne Torres.
Hi Lianne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sure, I’d be honored to share my journey. It all started during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when the world seemed to stop, but my personal turmoil was just beginning. I found myself trapped in a physically and emotionally abusive relationship, an experience that nearly cost me my life.
However, amidst the darkness, I had a moment of clarity. I realized that in every toxic relationship I had been in, I was the common denominator. That realization became my catalyst for change. I knew I had to confront my own deep-seated wounds and begin the process of healing.
As I embarked on this journey of self-discovery and healing, I found solace in sharing my story. That’s when I decided to start my podcast, Watch Us Thrive. It became a platform for me to speak out about my survival and to amplify the voices of others who had turned their pain into power.
Watch Us Thrive has evolved into a safe space where tough and taboo conversations are not only welcomed but celebrated. I’m passionate about helping others heal from their own traumas by sharing my story and the stories of my guests
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Navigating the path to where I am today has definitely been far from smooth. One of the most significant struggles I faced was overcoming the trauma of my abusive relationship. The scars, both physical and emotional, ran deep, and there were moments when it felt like I would never fully recover.
Additionally, building Watch Us Thrive from the ground up presented its own set of challenges. As with any new venture, there were doubts and uncertainties along the way. Finding my voice and gaining the confidence to share my story publicly was a journey in itself.
Delving into sensitive topics such as trauma and abuse means confronting not only my own pain but also the potential backlash or judgment from others. However, I knew that creating a safe space for these conversations was crucial, regardless of the obstacles.
Despite the challenges, every setback served as fuel for my determination to keep pushing forward. Through perseverance and remembering why I started, I’ve been able to turn my struggles into strengths and use my platform to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. That’s what it’s all about at the end of the day.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At the core of my work is the podcast “Watch Us Thrive,” where I serve as both host and advocate. Through this platform, I specialize in amplifying the voices of survivors, sharing stories of resilience, and having conversations around healing from trauma and abuse.
What sets “Watch Us Thrive” apart is its commitment to authenticity and vulnerability. I don’t shy away from discussing the tough topics that others may avoid. Instead, I dive headfirst into the uncomfortable but necessary conversations surrounding trauma, abuse, and mental health.
I’m most proud of the community I’ve built through the podcast—a community where listeners feel seen, heard, and validated in their experiences. The feedback I constantly receive from my audience about how the podcast has touched their lives and helped them on their own healing journeys is incredibly rewarding.
I’m proud of the diverse range of voices I’ve been able to feature on the show. Each guest brings a unique perspective and story to the table, enriching the conversation and offering hope and inspiration to my listeners.
Ultimately, what sets me apart is my personal connection to the topics we discuss. As a survivor myself, I bring a level of empathy and understanding to the conversations that resonates with our audience. My authenticity and willingness to share my own story openly create a safe space for others to do the same, fostering a sense of community and support that is truly transformative.
What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, I’m incredibly excited about the future of “Watch Us Thrive” and the impact my platform can continue to make. One of my primary goals is to expand the reach of the podcast, reaching even more people who may be in need of support and validation.
In addition to growing my audience, I’m also focused on deepening the impact of our work. This includes exploring new avenues for advocacy and support, such as collaborating with organizations that specialize in trauma-informed care or hosting live events and workshops focused on healing and empowerment.
Ultimately, my vision for the future is one where “Watch Us Thrive” serves as a beacon of hope and healing for survivors around the world. I look forward to the journey ahead and am eager to see how I can continue to make a difference in the lives of others.
