We were lucky to catch up with Lianna Ashton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lianna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I was born into entertainment. I’m the 8th generation of performers.
Lianna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a kid I grew up performing Risley. Risley means ‘juggling people with your feet’ my dad juggled me and my brother on his feet since we were 2yrs old.
Circus and music is what my family is well known for. Our family circus started in the early 1800’s in Australia.
In my late 20’s I retired the family Risley act and started my own shows performing hula hoops, FootJuggling, and music for cruise ships and theme parks,
In my opinion being disciplined is key. I train, create, and eat as healthy as possible.
I think being your authentic self makes one stand out. I have been blessed with my talents so I use them all to create my own unique style to each one of my shows.
When I’m not traveling I dj, sing, and teach circus arts to others locally in Florida.
I’m most proud of inspiring others. I have a lot of people write me and tell me personally that I have inspired them to change their lives for the better. Whether it’s in performance, fitness, health, or mentally. I try to always help others with the knowledge I’ve learned through out my career and my life. Teaching circus arts is one way I do this. It’s very rewarding to watch my students grow.
I am also proud of my family and what we’ve accomplished in our career of entertainment. We were inducted into the Circus Ring Of Fame in 2001.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I believe self development is extremely important to growing oneself. There’s so many amazing speakers I like to listen to. Dr Joe dispenza is one of them.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Traveling and connecting with people all over the world. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
