We recently connected with Liang Chiu and have shared our conversation below.
Liang , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about how you got your first non-friend, non-family client. Paint the picture for us so we can feel the same excitement you felt on that day.
I came across my first client while attending Paris Fashion Week in 2018. While attending various fashion shows the social media influencers I worked with introduced me to designers, decision makers in the Fashion PR and Marketing department of Global Fashion & Beauty/Skincare companies. Immediately I had built rapport and relationship where my first several clients reached out to me to help them implement their Influencer Marketing Program and Campaigns. From that point on, I had a nice steady stream of 2 – 3 new clients that I was managing while taking on my regular full time job. Since I was pretty good with project & time management.

Liang , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As for me, I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. At a very young age I have always been fascinated with Advertising and Marketing. While attending at University of Wisconsin, Marketing and Advertising classes really intrigued me and my passion grew even more. After graduating and moved to Silicon Valley I got my first job at Yahoo during the height of the dot com era. Working at Yahoo, I gained a lot of experience with digital advertising, online & search marketing. As my career progressed I saw online marketing & digital advertising space evolve too. So I got into social media marketing, social commerce, and Influencer marketing across various consumer focused companies in the Fashion, Beauty/Skincare, Lifestyle, Travel, DTC eCommerce industries. And I have helped various companies implementing successful Influencer Marketing Programs and Campaigns. I’m proud that being open-minded, humble, and relatable allowed me to build relationships with everyone I worked with. So I often get referrals, and asked to be guest speakers on the topic of Influencer Marketing Industry, trends, and where it’s going, etc… Which all became helpful for me to reach out to prospective clients to explore partnerships or business opportunities.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is leveraging Linkedin & Networking events:
1, Being active on Linkedin joining groups that’s relevant to me (in my case Influencer Marketing intersects into PR, Social Media, Paid Social, Live Selling, Growth Marketing) have meaningful interactive group discussions.
2. Periodically posting about trends, best practices, and why Influencer Marketing is essential to a Business.
3. Reach out to connect and follow other industry professionals and consumer products companies.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met my cofounder/business partner via one of the companies that I worked with as a client in 2024. From the first time we worked with each other, we just felt like we get along very well. Our experiences complement to each other, and most importantly we able to tackle complicated campaign needs the company he was working at. Furthermore, we met up frequently to discuss and explore the possibility of launching an Influencer Marketing Agency together and be our own bosses.
