Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lexy Halloran. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lexy , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The Chronic Chronicles was born from a very personal place; years of navigating life with endometriosis, PCOS, and chronic symptoms that often felt invisible and misunderstood. After countless doctor visits, missed diagnoses, and moments of isolation, I realized how many others were also walking this path alone. That’s when I decided to create something I wish I had: a science-backed, validating space where people with chronic conditions could feel seen, heard, and empowered.
Our mission is to bring awareness, education, and real-life experiences to the forefront of conversations around chronic illness. We’re not just here to talk about symptoms, we’re here to explore how chronic conditions intersect with mental health, identity, relationships, careers, and every other aspect of life. And we do it through storytelling, expert interviews, and honest dialogue.
This mission matters deeply to me because I know firsthand how life-changing it is to feel understood. Every episode is a love letter to those who have been dismissed, misdiagnosed, or made to feel like their pain isn’t real. Through The Chronic Chronicles, I’m on a mission to help others reclaim their narratives, advocate for their health, and feel less alone in their journey.

Lexy , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m Lexy, the creator and host of The Chronic Chronicles podcast—a science-backed, story-driven show that shines a light on life with chronic illness. I’m also a someone who is always learning, addicted to coffee, and chronic illness advocate living with endometriosis and other chronic illnesses.
My background is in science, I have a Bachelor’s in Human Biology and a Master’s in Bacteriology. I’ve worked in hospitals, preclinical research, and taught college-level Physiology and Microbiology. But behind the professional titles, I’ve also spent years trying to get answers for my own chronic symptoms. That personal experience, paired with my passion for education, led me to launch The Chronic Chronicles as a way to bridge the gap between evidence based info and lived experiences.
On the podcast, I interview people living with chronic conditions, as well as healthcare providers, researchers, therapists, and wellness experts. Together, we dive into everything from diagnoses, treatment journeys, and symptom management, to deeper topics like mental health, medical trauma, and identity. I’m proud that the show has become a trusted resource for both validation and actionable tools.
What sets The Chronic Chronicles apart is that it’s not just a platform for awareness; it’s a community for empowerment. I focus on creating a space where science and storytelling coexist, where complexity is embraced, and where we always center the voices of people who are often overlooked or dismissed in traditional health spaces.
Beyond the podcast, I also create digital resources, collaborate with mission-aligned brands, and run a small shop called Coastline Chic Designs, where I make comfort-forward products like mugs and sweatshirts while also helping other businesses with brand design.
What I’m most proud of is hearing from listeners who say an episode made them feel seen, helped them advocate for themselves, or gave them hope during a hard time. That’s why I do what I do.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that The Chronic Chronicles isn’t just a podcast—it’s a movement. It’s about changing how we talk about chronic illness, uplifting diverse stories, and helping people feel a little less alone in their journey.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my life came when I had to step away from the traditional career path I had worked so hard to build. I had spent years in academia, earned my Master’s in Bacteriology, taught at the university level, and worked in hospitals and research. Science and education were (and still are) huge passions of mine. But behind the scenes, I was silently battling symptoms from endometriosis and PCOS that were becoming harder and harder to ignore.
I hit a point where I could no longer push through the fatigue, the pain, and the flare-ups just to maintain a career that didn’t allow space for my body’s needs. It was heartbreaking and scary to walk away from something I had invested so much time, energy, and identity into. But it also opened the door for something I never expected.
That’s when I pivoted toward something more aligned with both my lived experience and my passion for health education: I created The Chronic Chronicles podcast. It started as a way to process and share what I was going through, but it quickly grew into a platform where others could share their stories, too. I found myself blending science communication with storytelling, advocacy with education, and suddenly, everything I had learned in my previous roles started to make sense in a new way.
That pivot was scary, but it’s the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever done. It allowed me to redefine what success looks like, build a community that truly matters to me, and create work that honors both my brain and my body.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was that rest is something you have to earn. For most of my life, I was caught in the loop of hustle culture, chasing academic success, working multiple jobs, and constantly pushing myself to prove my worth through productivity. Even as my chronic illness symptoms worsened, I still believed I had to keep pushing through. That resting meant I was lazy, or weak, or falling behind.
But chronic illness doesn’t care about your schedule, your to-do list, or your degrees. I hit a wall where my body demanded rest and no amount of willpower could override it. It forced me to re-evaluate everything I believed about work, value, and self-worth.
The real backstory? I remember lying on the floor in my apartment one day, in the middle of a pain flare so intense I couldn’t stand and all I could think about was how “unproductive” I was being. That moment broke something open in me. I realized I had internalized a belief system that didn’t serve me, and frankly, didn’t serve anyone living in a human body.
So I began the hard, uncomfortable process of unlearning that belief. I started seeing rest as a right, not a reward. As something essential, not optional. And now, I carry that lesson into The Chronic Chronicles, where we talk about things like pacing, boundaries, and redefining success on your own terms.
Unlearning that has been one of the most freeing and healing parts of this journey. And I hope it’s something others in my community feel permission to do too.
