We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lexi Norton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lexi below.
Lexi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Moving out at 16 years old has to be one of the toughest challenges I’ve ever faced. Always take the risk. I have learned so much at such a young age. This industry is so tough and facing all the challenges growing up all hit me at once. I have worked full time ever since, while doing school full time as well. It’s definitely been hard to balance work, school, dance, and music all together and I’m still learning, but I wouldn’t take it back for the world. This has made me so happy to find what I love and be able to achieve my dreams as a little kid in a baby’s ballet class.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started out on competition dance teams when I was 10 years old in San Diego. When I hit 14 years old, I felt stuck in San Diego and like I couldn’t really fully develop as a dancer. When I first turned 16, I started driving up to LA almost three times a week just to take dance classes and get better at some of the best dance studios in the world. It was such a thrill and escape from my life. I started to finally realize this is my passion and that’s when I finally moved to LA. I now take classes as often as I can and also model occasionally. I work full time and college full time as well, which can definitely be challenging, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love what I do and I can’t wait to see what the next few years have in store!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing about my craft is seeing the joy and entertainment on other peoples faces. It also helps me express and let go of what I’m feeling that day. It’s a healthy way to cope with whatever you’re going through and also get a workout in the process haha! I also love teaching any age because I get to watch them develop and see the excitement on their faces that I always feel.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
A personal goal I have always had is to be a backup dancer on tour once in my life at least. I would love to be able to see the world and do what I love for other people to consume. This has always been in the back of my head ever since I was a young kid. I always love to watch other people’s backup dancers and sometimes even learn the routines to see how they are fully put together. The main two people I would love to tour with would be Tate McRae and even Jack Harlow.
