We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lexi Heinzer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lexi, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
When I think about success, the first word that comes to mind is passion. If you’re chasing something you don’t care about, you might achieve a version of “success,” but it won’t feel the same and it probably won’t last. I learned this firsthand when I made the leap from working full-time as a marriage and family therapist to making Lagree my career. Therapy was meaningful, but over time I felt burnt out. Shifting into Lagree which is something I truly love, changed everything for me. Now, as a Master Trainer and co-owner of Lagreeing at Home, my work actually gives me energy instead of draining it.
The second piece is adaptability. You don’t need to have every detail mapped out before you start. Honestly, you can’t. Life has a way of throwing curveballs no matter how much you plan. What matters most is being able to pivot, think on your feet, and not get stuck when things don’t go as expected.
And finally, consistency. Passion gets you started, adaptability keeps you moving, but consistency is what actually builds results. It’s the showing up, the follow-through, the willingness to carve your own path even when it’s hard.
To me, success isn’t about luck or a perfect plan. It’s about loving what you do, being willing to adjust when needed, and continuing to show up for yourself and your vision. That combination can truly make anything possible.

Lexi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Lexi Heinzer, the co-creator of Lagreeing at Home, a virtual platform with thousands of on-demand Lagree classes, and a Lagree Master Trainer who has the privilege of leading teacher trainings all over the world. My career didn’t start in fitness. I originally worked as a licensed marriage and family therapist. While that work was meaningful, the emotional weight of carrying others’ struggles, combined with raising two young children of my own, left me completely depleted. I knew I needed to redirect my energy into something that didn’t take from me but instead restored me.
That’s where Lagree came in. For me, Lagree isn’t just a workout, it’s stress relief, resilience training, and empowerment all in one. It’s the one place where I can push myself, let go of the noise, and come out stronger every single time. Turning Lagree into my full-time career transformed not only my own well-being but also gave me the chance to help others feel that same sense of strength and renewal.
What sets me apart is the unique blend of backgrounds I bring. My years as a therapist allow me to see fitness through a holistic lens. it’s not only about physical strength but also about the mental and emotional growth that happens when you challenge yourself in class. I love weaving those insights into my teaching and mentoring, so my clients and trainees leave not just with stronger bodies but with more confidence and resilience in their everyday lives.
I’m most proud of the community we’ve built with Lagreeing at Home and the opportunity to shape the next generation of Lagree trainers. What I want people to know is simple: you don’t need to have it all figured out to start. With passion, consistency, and the courage to keep showing up, you can completely transform your path — just like I did.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A big lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that everything has to be perfect before you begin. I used to be the type of person who wanted to think through every possible outcome and have all the details lined up before taking a step forward. But when my partner, Heather Perren, and I started Lagreeing at Home, we launched long before it was “perfect.” We had so much to figure out, but we trusted that we would learn, adapt, and grow along the way.
Looking back, that decision is one of the reasons Lagreeing at Home exists today. If we had waited for the perfect plan or the perfect moment, we probably never would have started. What I’ve learned since then is that growth comes from momentum, not from waiting until everything feels safe and certain. You refine, adjust, and evolve as you go and that’s where the magic happens.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots for me came at the very beginning of Lagreeing at Home, during the COVID shutdowns. At the time, I was two months postpartum and desperate for a way to move my body and feel like myself again. With studios closed, I started filming Lagree Micro classes in my living room and putting them on YouTube . This was to partly help myself, but also to give others a chance to keep working out when they couldn’t go to a studio.
At the same time, my now business partner, Heather Perren, was doing something very similar from her own home. We didn’t know each other at all, we actually connected through social media. But we both saw the same need and felt the same passion. The real pivot came when we realized this could be so much bigger than just filming a few classes. We decided to take a chance on each other, merge our efforts, and build what has now become a full platform with thousands of on-demand classes and a global community.
That experience taught me that sometimes pivots come when you least expect them. What started as a personal outlet and a way to help during a crisis turned into a business that has grown beyond anything I could have imagined, all because we were willing to adapt, dream bigger, and trust the process.
