We recently connected with Lex Miller and have shared our conversation below.
Lex, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
I started my small business out of necessity to have space to heal with people in my community. When I first moved to the area I was in search for wellness centers that felt inclusive and safe. There wasn’t anything like it that was Accessible to me so I began the journey of creating that safe space for myself and for others. I realized quickly that there was a need for this and wanted to extend my services even further. I decided to make it a traveling studio which allows me to reach clients on a larger scale.
My advice to young professionals would be to hone in on your craft, stay true to yourself and keep going!
Lex, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My small business is Sol Aligned, I offer a range of services that promote holistic well-being through creative expression. I host various workshops that are centered around mindfulness and movement. I integrate yoga & dance to encourage self expression and self care through movement. I host creative workshops that provides tools to participants to tap into there creative energy through writing, guided intuitive art classes, movement & more. As a creative it has been important for me to heal through these modalities. Visual and performing arts have always been apart of my life so weaving my healing into that just felt natural.
Being a queer person of color and a woman it is also important to me to create a welcoming inclusive environment that embraces diversity that encourages self-discovery and healing.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I have a deep passion for the arts, wellness and a genuine desire to help others. I have a clear vision and sense of purpose that has been my driving force and motivating factor. I continue my learning and am teachable and put myself in spaces to network and share. I also have a wonderful support system and soul family that has been unwavering. I am inspired so much by my friends and there talents as well.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Networking and putting myself out there! Developing an online presence that showcases me just being myself and the services I provide. Collaboration with other local businesses and beyond.
