We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lex Divine. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lex below.
Lex, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
My journey of beginning to offer ceremonial and Integrative Healing work began with my own journey of empowerment. I had spent years figuring out who “Lex” really was, what she cared about, and what she wanted. It’s truly an ongoing process. During this journey of empowerment I craved support from other women and I began attending women’s circles. These spaces deeply changed my life. For the first time in my life I felt unconditional love and acceptance from a group of women. In those moments I knew that we needed more spaces like these.
When I decided to start holding my own sacred spaces, I knew I wanted to learn from people who were already doing it. People I looked up to and was inspired by. I had multiple mentors who taught me so much about how to hold space for others, ceremonial tools, Integrative Health practices, and how to effectively build and run a business.
As I was learning, I was also practicing. I was terrified to hold my first women’s circle but I knew I had to just jump in. I held event after event and learned something from each one. I learned what worked- how to make people feel seen, how to foster powerful transformation. I learned what didn’t work- poorly marketing my events, hosting things that didn’t feel like MY unique medicine.
Overall my journey has included a lot of jumping before I felt ready, trial and error, and endless learning. In my opinion, that’s the best way to get started! Release expectations for you to have it all figured out right away. Know that you will likely never reach a point of having things perfectly ironed out. The exciting thing about it all is that you get to continue learning and growing for the rest of your career.
Lex, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an Integrative Healer and Sacred Space Holder who holds intentional space for women to feel empowered to express their full-spectrum self.
The full-spectrum woman is all about honoring the full human experience. In the spaces I hold, each woman is invited to show up as her truest self, knowing that there is space for her to express anything and everything that she is moving through.
I believe that when we enter spaces that encourage our deepest expression, we are able to come home to ourselves. We create space to remember who we are at our core and what we REALLY want out of this one, very short life. We get to release the stories and beliefs that have been put on us and make room for our unique expression. We remember our own innate ability and power to heal.
I offer these intentional spaces in the form of individual Integrative Healing Sessions, Women’s Gatherings, and Mentorship Programs.
These offerings provide deep healing and transformation, authentic love and connection, impactful and supportive community, and the remembrance of your truest self- all through intentionally holding space for what IS.
What I am most proud of in my work is that there’s no fluff. We get deep. We get silly. We get real. There is no need to try to show up a certain way. There’s no such thing as being “too weird”, “too normal”, “too loud”, “too quiet”. Each woman leaves these spaces feeling deeply loved for who she is, remembering that she can live a life that lights her up and she will always be accepted for it.
I see this work as a huge movement. Here, each woman becomes empowered to ripple this work out into the people around her. Bit by bit we are creating more acceptance for women to be whoever they want to be, which in turn will have massive effects on humanity as whole.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I’ve had to learn in running a business- especially one where vulnerability is at the forefront- is to not care what other people think of me.
The reason I am so passionate about the work that I do is because it comes from personal experience. Growing up I always cared SO much about what other people thought of me.
When I first started my business I was worried about how people would respond. “Are they gonna think I’m weird?”, “What will my parents think?”, “What if people from high school see?”. These fears were playing in my head through each post I made, each offering I put out, each event I held.
I realized that my work would never reach its full potential and impact if I kept playing small. I care SO much about what I do. Because of that, I know I really need to OWN that this is my unique magic in this world.
It doesn’t matter if some people don’t get it. It doesn’t matter if some people don’t agree. Nobody can take this work from me or from the people I’m meant to serve.
It’s been an ongoing lesson, but learning this has helped me to fully step into this work at a caliber I couldn’t have a few years ago. I’m putting out offers that I was previously scared to. I’m getting my name out there more. I’m no longer hiding.
The impact created from that change? A huge increase of women saying YES to joining me in this movement. They’re the reason why I keep going.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
100%- prioritizing authenticity and building relationships. I truly care about the people I connect with through my work. I’m not just trying to sell you something. I want to get to know YOU. I want to connect on a deep level. AND I fully believe in the transformation that occurs in the spaces I hold.
People come back to my events and offerings because they actually enjoyed their time. They felt the authenticity of the space. They felt truly welcome and accepted. They leave these spaces telling their friends and inviting them to the next event.
I make it a priority to foster connection and build community. My work isn’t just about one person- it’s how we come together as a collective.
