We recently connected with Lewana Kidane and have shared our conversation below.
Lewana , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I’ve always known I wanted to be an entrepreneur and have my own business. I’ve worked in retail, restaurants and as a bottle girl in college, I found that these things were something I wasn’t really passionate about and didn’t want to waste anymore time focusing on things I wasn’t passionate for and really draw my focus more on my personal goals, and creating a avenue for myself! Additionally, pouring into my own business brings me constant joy! Furthermore, I wouldn’t mind exploring different career fields in the near future, I don’t necessarily believe in putting someone in a box and limiting their abilities and experiences so I would be open to venture out.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Lewana Kidane. I am a Body Sculptor and The Founder of The Body Contour Clinic Medical Spa. I got into The Aesthetics Industry, in the midst of the pandemic and started with little to no clients and build my clientele through word of mouth and marketing!
When I decided I wanted to do something different, I started looking at beauty aesthetics because it’s an area I love and I have experience in product development.
One thing I think sets me apart from others are that I’m extremely passionate and pay attention to detail and treat my business likes it’s my baby! Additionally, I always want to create a great experience for each and every client, student and want to see everyone succeed and I want to exceed my clients expectations to the fullest. Furthermore, I take a lot of time to create content and flyers and market for my clients and supporters which a lot of people don’t do, I invest a lot into my business better quality products and the newest products which I think my clients deserve the best so we always make sure we are staying on top of the trends and new things. One thing I’m the most proud of is the fact that this “little” business I started a year ago started small and has impacted so many people in such a small time frame. Being able to change someone’s life for the better and impact them and motivate them is the best feeling ever, seeing my students succeed and become successful is the most thing im proud of.
One goal I would like to achieve very soon is to expand my business and have workshops all over the world and to mentor women in this field
How did you build your audience on social media?
One way I built my audience on social media was really building my portfolio of my work , and illustrating what it is that I do, communicating with my audience and engaging with them via live or polls or faq etc. being consistent is a big one and using hashtags daily as well as word a mouth. Furthermore, really getting a feel of what kind of content clients want to see and showing more of that to gain a bigger audience.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What really helped me build my reputation within my market is really standing out from the crowd and bringing something new to the table and making it my own. Marketing is a one of my strong suits and I really had fun with it. Additionally, Attention to detail and being professional with our captions, story post and flyers really made us stand out and drew clientele our way.
Building our reputation also came with time and having great customer service to our loyal clients and recommendations etc.
