We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Leviticus Long Jr. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Leviticus below.
Alright, Leviticus thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first knew I wanted to be an artist seriously in High school. Around 10th grade I made an album with one of my homeboys and the feeling is genuinely unmatched. I love creating something that people like and can relate to.
Leviticus, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is L3viii I am an independent artist from Columbia, SC. I got started making music around 8th grade with one of my close friends who was making music before me. I started taking it seriously in High school and it really just snowballed from there. One of my biggest inspirations is J. Cole, he’s my favorite rapper and one of my reasons for doing this. Since starting I have released a collab album, an EP, and a solo album in May of this year with more music to come. I feel like my sound is unique in a way however I am definitely influenced by artists I like to listen to.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
When people come up to you, or message you out of the blue about a song and tell you how much they liked it. It’s an amazing feeling and keeps you motivated to keep going with your craft.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I have always wanted to be successful and have financial freedom to take care of myself and my family. I feel like this is the way to do it for me. I don’t rap because I feel like I have to or I don’t have any other choice, I rap because it’s what I’m passionate about and what I really love doing.
