Levi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Lately the most meaningful project I have been working on are new singles for my band Malibu Nights. We recently dropped our new single ‘High Time’ and are in the studio working out another single. The perspective shift away from albums into single release has been double edged, as you can focus resources and time on quick releases, but lose the meaning and impact of a full length. Weaving a tapestry of meaning through multiple songs is a difficult and beautiful art.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am the lead singer for Malibu Nights, and keyboardist for Denver based band The Dendrites. I also oil paint and draw in my free time. I have been an artist my entire life, and believe that without purpose art is meaningless.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
How money is secondary to the art. Stay true to what you believe in and money will follow. But stay dedicated and work hard for your art, because even if you are talented there is some kid out there hustling twice as hard with half the talent making it because of drive and passion. Stay focused.
