We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Levi Reynolds. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Levi below.
Levi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I struggle with bipolar 1 disorder, I am now medicated but this was before I knew I struggled with it, so I had a really hard time committing to things & being consistent with decisions.
I really wanted to start a business & have done research for a very long time amongst so many different topics & I couldn’t ever just pull the trigger on it. One day my friend came up to me & started talking about starting a clothing brand so I said why not & 3 of us total started the brand. Not much risk involved there but as time went on the 3 of us split up & it was now just me. I asked my best friend Braden Conley if he wanted to help me. He said yes, so as I was looking for quotes for screen printers I was like “damn this is expensive” so I just decided to buy all the equipment that was needed & print our own stuff. The clothing brand ended up failing but in the process I discovered that I could just print for other people as a service & that sparked an entire new business that I wasn’t planning on. I went about 2k in debt for the clothing business that failed prior to buying the screen printing equipment. Once I bought the equipment I was about 7k in debt. We now have been screen printing for 2 years & are completely debt free & profiting every deal
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Levi Reynolds, I do this with my best friend Braden Conley. We were born & raised from the southside of Muncie. We provide screen printing. Braden specifically has always been into the hardcore music scene along with his life long best friend Tannen Fair (Moribund Art) & that’s where most of our clientele is at. We are most proud of the detail our work provides as we have learned through mistakes used on our own products from our failed clothing brand. Our first client was a hardcore band Ripped Open, they gave us our first chance at cracking into the scene with screenprinting & from there we’ve landed clients like Piss Ant & 1 body 6 graves. Who consistently place orders with us because of our quick turn around time & quality of work. We are most proud of the fact that me & braden knew of eachother in highschool, but didn’t really talk then 4 years later reconnected at the gym & formed a great and very strong relationship. Which then turned into a business partnership that relies on the backbone of a genuine amazing friendship & operates with a family feel & deep love for eachother.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My mother was a drug addict, in and out of prison/jail my entire life. She’d come & go, I lived at her house for a brief time from ages 12-15. We lived in a trap house, constant drug abuse, pills being crushed on the table, meth lab in the basement, people always in and out of the house, food was basically non existent. during that time I barely went to school & when I did I was getting wrote up and put in “in school suspension” I had to fight my way through highschool just to get out & start my own journey of life & freedom. My mom passed away in June of 2022 due to an overdose. I always had to just push through because I knew that was the only option.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
From ages 12-17 I abused alcohol. My mom was a drug addict so I knew drugs were off limits but I felt like alcohol was safe (twas not). I drank to try & numb the pain that was my life. I was drinking at minimum every weekend. I would party & try to just not feel pain. One day I woke up & just had the thought of “what am I doing with my life? Stop drowning & just get up” so I did.
