Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Levelle Davison. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Levelle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
In my experience, taking risks has become a yearly quest. I can’t think of a year, since my formative years, where I haven’t had to take a risk whether it was regarding my career or artistry as a whole. I started my artist career professionally once starting college on a full-ride music scholarship. I often would host shows and initiatives to bring awareness to local talent as well as my own. I had the opportunity of competing on NBC’s The Voice, singing for the Walmart Stakeholder’s Event, and headlining Arkansas’s Riverfest Festival. Though life changing, these grand opportunities all came with much sacrifice and risk. Let’s take me trying out for The Voice for instance. I didn’t have expendable funds nor resources to travel out of town to audition but I felt God tugging me to do it, to bet on myself without having all of the answers. I ended up placing and being able to compete on the show and I’m forever thankful I did what seemed to be unconventional to the naked eye. The groundwork of my risk taking not only comes from my belief in my own abilities and skills as an artist, but stems directly from my faith in God who always leads me to triumph, whether it initially feels that way or not.

Levelle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Born in California, Dayvsnn credits his free- spirited mother who signed him up to compete in a talent show. At 3 years old, he had his first win under his belt. Living an adventurous life, being raised in the church, and an active student at his arts magnet high school developed in him the craft of a true artist.
In 2017, he spontaneously auditioned for NBC’s The Voice (Season 14); receiving detailed- praise from each judge; he went on to compete after accepting an invitation to Team Adam Laveigne.
Dayvsnn’s journey accelerated after his time with The Voice; within the past 5 years, he’s been a featured artist for:
Riverfest (Arkansas’ Annual Music Festival; Little Rock, 2018)
Walmart, The Annual Shareholders Meeting (Bentonville, 2018)
Black Media Honors (Atlanta, 2021)
Mavericks vs Spurs NBA Game: The National Anthem (Dallas, 2022)
The Real, Daytime Television: Theme Song Remix- Winner (FOX TV Network, 2022)
Voyage Dallas Magazine: Feature & Interview (Dallas, 2022)
Spring 2021 & 2022, Davysnn released two singles co- written by him.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In my view, society can provide resources for creatives to pull from as high school students are able to apply and pull for scholarships. Creatives should have their own repertoire of contacts and individuals who they can gain resources and financial investments from to start their careers. As a creative or entrepreneur, start-up costs are usually the downfall to many who look to start. If we alleviate this with resources and financial investments, more creatives will have the ability to start in their field without the burden of doing it alone.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Though a major chunk of my audience came from being on national television, those same people want to be nurtured and feel a part of my journey, my story. If you are starting on social media, I would petition you to think of your unique positioning and story you want tell on the app. Ask yourself, is this something I’m comfortable sharing consistently? If so, I would start there and watch how many people are yearning for authenticity on social media. Always start with yourself and not the person next to you who may have 50,000 more followers than you.
